Yeah, it was formally a Catholic school, but it held onto some of the traditions, hence the uniforms (honestly I jus didn't want to have to come up with new fashion for like 10+ characters per chapter lol). Gabby actually is lucky to get in there because it's expensive, and her family isn't rich. Olivia was essentially dumped there by her arrogant, rich grandmother.
Man, this reminds me of something that happened to me.
I was in physics class one time, and pretty much everyone was half-asleep or just not paying attention. I was one of the few people taking active notes. At one point, the professor was talking about the Earth's core, and I doodled a quick apple core with a satellite orbiting it on the margin of my notebook. I then look up and he's right in front of me, and says: 'you taking some good notes, I see.'
I tried to point out I had written down everything else, but he ignored me and then clapped his hands to wake up the rest of the class, and then every time he wrote something on the board, he would turn to me and be like 'make sure you write this down too'.
He was an absolute dick. Sometimes I still think of writing him a letter and telling him that XD

I had a history teacher who would 'wake up' dozing/tuned out/zoned students by sneaking up on them, slamming his massive meaty hand on their desk with a LOUD slap and ask them "How did the Mongols kill invaded villager babies?! Grab 'em by the ankles and swing them overhead and smash them against a tree or big rock!"
Yeah, that woke up a drifty student FAST!
Plus I also took copious notes during class and was more than once, used like a court stenographer when he was distracted to get back on track.

Can't claim to speak for that one pedant... but what really sucks is that some people would get off on getting such a letter, for example, and will seek out positions of authority for just that sort of reason.
First example to jump to mind: The art teacher at my local elementary school was the opposite of a stereotypical teacher; she was emotionally sadistic in ways that she'd probably have more trouble getting away with these days. (She actually liked me and my art just fine for the most part, strangely enough, but because of the way she treated my friends, I didn't like her back.) An acquaintance / older classmate of mine went on to become part of the County School Board. I wasn't there in person, but apparently when he confronted her and told her what she did wrong as a teacher, part of her answer was to cackle in his face.
