TL;DR version: Unexpected addition to the family. We need to get some weight on her quickly before she can be spayed. If you'd like to help please consider grabbing one of my YCHs listed here-https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10322291/ or use my Kofi link to donate a few bucks. Every little bit helps and will be going directly to medical costs and extra food for Faye.
Os and I encountered this pup while out on a walk on the 1st. After running up to us to greet us she continued following a homeless lady down the road. We popped in to grab a cup of coffee, and chatted with the head of the animal welfare board of our small town for a few minutes.
Upon leaving, we saw said pup dancing around a different person (city worker, doing work to get ready for a big off-road ralley held in our town over the weekend). She was jumping in and out of traffic, and it was clear she was not going to avoid getting hit for long.
At the same time we started to cross the street to grab her so did the head of the animal welfare board. After a short discussion it was decided that we would foster the pup until/if an owner came forward.
Well, turns out that this pup has been to the emergency vet before and the animal control officers are already familiar with her. They had seen her a few weeks prior when the previous owners (who 1- were not supposed to have pets because the husband kills dogs 'for fun' when he's angry 2- dumped her on the street right after she got emergency care) were cited for neglect due to her severe malnutrition. So we know she has no micro chip, and hasn't had the best start to life.
The pound is over run here, and because our kiddo (and to be honest, the rest of the family as well) is already very attached to her we've decided to keep her. She's already put on some weight, but her spay appointment is the 12th and the vet would like to see her have some more weight before then. We'll also be getting her micro-chipped, the total cost of spay, micro-chip, and booster shots is around $125. Not a ton, but enough to be kind of a hassle when it's not planned.
As always, every little bit helps. Please consider grabbing one of my YCHs I have listed in the journal linked above, or toss a few bucks in my Ko-fi.

OMG I'm fairly certain shes a Belgian malinois or mixed with one! Can see my girl in my profile pic for comparison.
She sounds extremely sweet end well tempered for her breed! I'm really happy you took her in. They can often be very demanding dogs and someone that disgusting had no right having her to begin with!
I'll do my best to get the word out about your YCHs, and if any are available later this month, I'd be delighted to grab one and help out personally too!

That's what we figured she is, as well. There aren't any breeders in the area, but dog/puppy theft is pretty common in the city we're about an hour away from. Unfortunately, if she was stolen from a loving home they didn't bother to get her micro-chipped. We've done as much digging as we can on various 'lost dog' forums etc and haven't found anyone looking for her :(
