UWAOOH! Would anybody like some...pound cake~?
"I'd-like-some POUND cake!"
Okay, goofy references to the good ol' days when Egoraptor actually did animation aside, yeah, I recently made pound cake! I've always loved pound cake, and it felt good finally making some for the first time and having it come out so perfect--my family even said it's the best baked good I've made so far! How did I do it? Keep reading and find out, then try making it yourself!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of butter, plus some extra to coat the pan with
- 1 cup of sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp of almond extract
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 3/4 cup of milk
Recipe:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, then coat a 9x5 loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
2. Put the flour, baking powder and salt together in a separate large bowl.
3. In a separate large bowl, mix the sugar and butter together with an electric mixer on low speed until light and fluffy.
4. Crack the eggs into the bowl one at a time, mixing well after each, then add the extracts and mix until completely combined.
5. Add the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon until just combined, then add the milk and switch back to the mixer, mixing for about one minute.
6. Pour the batter into the loaf pan, then use the back of the spoon to smooth it out on top.
7. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. You should know this handy trick by now: If a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out mostly or entirely clean, it's ready.
8. Take the cake out of the oven and allow it to sit in the pan for about 10 minutes, then turn it out to a cooling rack and let it sit until cooled completely.
And goodness gracious, just like that, you've made yourself a pretty little pound cake! Whether you prefer your pound cake as your morning coffee accompaniment, afternoon tea treat or post-meal dessert, I sure hope you find this cake as tasty as my family and I do!
And this also marks another entry in my Fighting Foodons recipe collection: Entry #25, Pound Cake, made from, obviously, pound cake! Rock 'n roll!
