Meredith Lane, Time Explorer, Standard Day 74, Standard Year 9218
Most folk know me as Meredith Lane, this violin-playing itinerant raccoon who appears from nowhere, helps a bit, and moves on, all the while playing her tune on her violin and dancing her way through life. Few actually know my lineage - daughter of the two founders of the Long Protectorate (umm, that's Hope Long and Emily Long, in case you don't know), later known as the Luahn Protectorate. Linguistic drift's a real bastard. Half my friends have been folks from scattered timelines, most of which don't exist any more (the timelines, not them, thank goodness!), while the other half have been Names. I mean serious NAMES, the kinds of folk who are movers and shakers in places of power. Heck, my granddad is the fellow who brought the Forerunners forwards through time.
It's hard to grow up surrounded by legends. Seriously, it's not fun. I wish it was. Everyone looks to you with expectations that you'll carry on that greatness, that you'll be some sort of legend in your own right. Even when you just want to be a normal girl, they want you to be this larger than life figure. It kind of killed friendships with me. So, I ran away. Built my first timeship with the help of a few REAL friends, including the woman I half grew up with. Thanks to the way anagathics work (those are anti-aging drugs, in case you slept through class, like my mom did!), she's not much older than I am, physically. Thanks to relifing and digital immortality, though, I know it's her third body. Damn, I'm off on another tangent. Sorry. Well, she helped me build the first ship. From there, it was all over the place, helping my parents anonymously, letting them think of me as just another wanderer, and in general getting the time to LIVE for myself. Ye gods and spirits of space how I needed it.
Well, I eventually wanted to o back home when this time-faring hyper-powerful super-dreadnought of a sapient battleship decided to kidnap me and keep me imprisoned. Damn thing wanted to destroy the Presidium before it even came into being, and thus mess up everyone everywhere. Well, apparently he got some kind of wind that everyone in my family was pissed, which meant he had a whole hyper-advanced polity coming to cold-clock his hypermetal arse across the stars and eons. I don't think he so much LET me go as dropped his guard too much. I made off with a fighter of his, after killing the onboard ship-mind / AI. Now it's mine, and I'm insanely happy. Time-jump capable, with insane speed, agility and a hell of a walloping punch.
Now if only I can get my parents to let me OUT again... I don't think there's a lot of hope for that (grounded for LIFE, probably).

Oh, Meredith is the sort to go all over the place. Thanks to having grown up around a archaeologist/linguist/sociologist grandfather and an adventurous, adventuring family including mother and father, she's fairly familiar with things from the early Corporate Era (2200 or so) to her far future.
