and…. here He finally is!
it was a commission made for
featuring their precious child Grubby! he is a giant stag beetle larva and he has such a lovely parent. the idea was to create a portrait which would be a parody of old photos and paintings of children made when any image capturing was extremely expensive and parents made their children to be in the fanciest clothing and scenes they could imagine and afford and the kids were captured tired and grumpy as hell bc sitting w/o any movement for hours is so boring and exhausting…
i’m so damn thankful for this commission! it took a lot of time but it was so satisfying and pleasurable. it’s what i was so eager for — something funny and silly and absurd but made with intense love and thoughtfulness. i mean! these were my origins and i didn’t even realize how much i missed it and now i know myself and my creative needs a bit better. no need to say i was hilariously happy and excited each time i returned to the piece to continue!!!
