From what I can tell, Shani grew up in an area with a relatively warm climate and little snow. Being exposed to a freezing climate after being freed for a very long time causes her to have a sensory overload, making her sick, to begin with. As for Darnell, he drank a warming potion. They all did before going outside.

Regardless that I like the character development between these two, plus what it is seen in the sixth and last panel (left to right / top to bottom), I must say that I'm very curious about how Shani's expression is going to be when she goes down the hill on that sled; I'm sure it's going to be hilarious to watch, although I don't know if it will be for her too. XD
