I think I mentioned I want to try inking and drawing comics and related to that this is pencil drawing pondering on comic style. This feels again being in the territory between too much and too little hatching. I feel rather than adding to the image my hatching just makes it less readable. I still kinda like it and feel this is some progress. I am really happy with that face. :)

I honestly really dig your crosshatching! I think you got the shadow values down quite well. All that I could potentially criticize on (if even needed) is just refinement of the crosshatching, but honestly I find that very subjective.
What is bothering you with your hatching? :O

Thanks and that is a valid criticism. A lot of lazily done lines and I think this wouldn't work if inked.
I think it ads to the shape on the mechanical arm and really like the face, but the hatching on the torso doesn't really follow any lighting. I could try doing more hatching, but I think more wouldn't work with inks again. I think less could work better. Just lines depicting form and less hatching. Something more in style of Frank Cho. Or maybe something where I do rough inked lines and just add values with markers or something. Just so many options. :D

Oh I see. I'm relatively lost with lighting (I just do what looks good to me, regardless if it's accurate lol) so no words of wisdom from me. The body looks really good to me and I like how I can see the shapes of the muscles. :D
But if you're not too sure on going full crosshatching, perhaps instead, it can be used to add textured shadows on certain materials (like the robotic parts or armor as you noted)? While doing a different shading/coloring style for flesh.
Very cool art either way.
