Back when she was young, in the woods, Cotuil had found something… a long, thin, stone altar, carved no one knows how long ago. Gryphons were strong creatures… but to move such a large slab of stone, it must have been quite an effort, on the part of many Gryphons. The edges were rough, the top of it uneven and cracked… but when Cotuil found it, she found beads and broken pottery on the top, and to the sides of it. Being only a short walk away from the cave behind the waterfall that Cotuil dusted the leaves off of it, and set up a small offering to the gods.
In time, she found another use for it… a worktable. She didn’t find it disrespectful, using an alter as a place to make art… after all, in her eyes, creating was a spiritual activity. Oftentimes, she would bring her supplies over to the altar, and work, making not just something for herself, but also something to leave on the altar. She rarely got lonely, working all by herself, because Cotuil always had company in the trees, and the winds. All of Nature was her companion, and she was grateful for it.
However, she became less of a hermit as time grew on, and while her family had long ago perished, she found something of a family with the friends she made within her Aerie. So, a little after the ceremony that declared her an adult, she invited them to join her at her stone altar, where she chatted and laughed with everyone, making a charm with her clan emblem on it. There was much music, and food, and merriment.
And when they departed, they left a little food, and a few trinkets, in case the gods and spirits wanted to continue the celebration without them.
