The only opossum (and marsupial) found in the wild of the United States and Canada is the Virginia opossum (Didelphis virginiana). Others can be found in southern Mexico, Central America and South America; the page for the genus Didelphis has a map of their range.
If you go 'up one directory' to the broader family Didelphidae, you'll find there are close to or over one hundred species of opossum from the looks of the page (includes extinct examples).
But in the US, there is only the one. I haven't really seen them in the wild much, but around five years ago they started to pop up more often. For a while, I found one frequently lounging near my driveway when I came home.
