Wereweevil Vi! We love the Primal Weevil from Bug Fables, honestly and we LOVE werewolf tropes especially! Thus, we made... wereweevil Vi. Most of this is painted in earth pigments, but the paint we use for the dark red here is an iridescent shimmer - it shines blue-green in the light! We can't show it off with a still image, but trust us, it's a GORGEOUS effect. Suitable for this beast, we think!
Typing out all of the work we've done on worldbuilding would take quite a while, but... well, being a werebeast of any variety isn't a common affliction, to put it lightly. For Vi, the most pressing part of the curse would be the need for pack. For a wereweevil, company is a physical need, just as pressing as food or water - the curse is transferred by bite, and though it can easily kill with that bite... it's worth it to fill the massive, gnawing hole in your chest, isn't it? Worth it, to gain a bit of company, to have even one person for companionship.
We based the head partially on boars, especially with the tusks. Claws are based on mantid claws - we headcanon the primal weevil to be a mimic species, rather than a true weevil! A member of superorder Dictyoptera, somewhere between roaches and mantids, but not really part of either order. If you were to convert it to more of an IRL species setup, rather than this anthro version, it would probably have a body similar to a rainbow bark mantis or a snake mantis - exceptionally flat in a very roach-y way, while still retaining the raptorial forearms. Definitely a weird little bugger! We like to think they've got a mutualistic relationship with normal weevils, utilizing them to hunt prey that would otherwise be a huge pain for both to hunt down.
We are currently taking commissions on Ko-Fi, if you want to monetarily support us - we can even send you the finished picture, though that might take a bit of fiddling, as we don't live in a place that's convenient to send mail from, per se. We also may do small ~100-200 word writing commissions, though that might be a bit more involved than visual commissions. We'd be glad to see you around!
