____________________________Long ago, a princess suddenly returned to her enchanted reign
after being away for more than a decade.
The difficult journey she had faced and the time spent away from home
had robbed her body of youth, but that did not make her face any less shining and graceful.
For the safety of her princedom, and above all of her subjects,
she had searched far and wide for a worthy successor to whom she could entrust her crown.
She needed an heir of noble blood, as she was only a princess regent.
In fact, it was said that Valmeridia, the name of the enchanted reign,
was created by Della Verbena family, a lineage belonging to the race of the first dragons.
And it was precisely the latter who managed to make that magical land as flourishing as it was demanding.
Although mountains, rivers and hills normally responded to natural laws,
for their potential to be fully expressed a bond between Valmeridia and its ruler was necessary.
Such was the sacred flame that burned within the red sandstone castle.
It offered life and abundance, but it equally needed to be nourished with the life force of the one who exercised its power.
Nothing serious for a majestic and powerful creature like an ancient dragon could be.
A price far too high to pay for someone with a much more modest lifespan, like a doe.
And although Princess Rosaspina, as priestess protector of the flame, had years of wisdom behind her,
she was aware that her destiny would be to reign only momentarily over those charming hills.
This is why she had been away from her throne for so long,
to the point of having made most people's faith in the success of that tiring and long journey waver.
Upon her return, the castle was now in ruins and the great forest had taken over a portion of the princedom.
It was necessary to restore balance and hope to those lands, but the doe knew that she had now
not much time and energies to see everything return to its ancient splendor before her reign ended.
Nonetheless, she had finally kept the promise she made to her subjects.
Her trip had been profitable, and had brought her back to Valmeridia expecting an heir.
A new ruler in a few more decades would in fact take her place.
Someone whose veins ran ancient dragon blood and who would have had plenty of time
to make his own the wisdom of previous sovereigns, bound in a deeper and more intrinsic way to the sacred flame...____________________________
Since this new character has aroused so much interest,
I decided to commission a themed pic to give some more details about who she was.
Princess Rosaspina made her debut in Perchance To Dream (Link), playing the role of deuteragonist in the comic.
