Miyu and Miaou are the names they were given as cubs by their parents. Their species is called the P'rari, catfolk who are a more rough-and-tumble than regular catfolk. Unfortunately, 'birth defects' such as the twins were sentenced to be exposed -- tied to a tree for the wild animals to eat. The twins' father had a different plan and on the same night they were exposed, he snuck out and freed them. He then ran to the nearest city, where his attempts to sneak past the wall...didn't go very well. Thus the cubs were turned over to the arena and given to the Arena Master to raise as a 'monster attraction'. Monster attractions generally wound up facing a team of four gladiators so their lives past the age of eighteen were certainly in doubt.

Time pased, and the sisters soaked their lessons up like a sponge. Their natural strength, endurance and ferocity saw them surpass trainer after trainer until only the Arena Master was good enough. Even then, his personal attention to their lessons might not have been enough, except Miyu worked out the weapon talent Titan's Grip which enabled them to wield a two-handed sword with one hand and Miaou developed Two-Legged Pounce.

Needless to say the twins destroyed the group se against them who had no defense against their extreme movement capabilities and the terrible damage they could meet out. The Area master had bet heavily on them, and when they won he used part of the earning to buy their slave contract and ripped it up. Armed with their freedom and a sack of coins, they set about to Zarithu the City of Orphans to make their way...and perhaps, find and adventure or two while they were at it...
