Long story behind this one. There was a big problem with a certain person in my apartment building last year who had some cleanliness and personal hygiene problems. It had gotten to the point where it was created a huge mold problem in the apartment, sickening several people, until 5 of us gave up our Spring Break to clean and disinfect the apartment. It's really a real mind-bending story, but for the sake of brevity and not wishing to embarrass the person, I won't get into it here.
I drew this in the shower with some of those bath crayon things as a helpful reminder of how to properly clean one's body. This person is a furry, so we figure that a happy washing fox would be good motivation to keep clean.
Here's more shower drawings http://www.gerbilfat.com/hosted/fur.....an/shower2.jpg and a shot of the top of the toilet, just for laughs http://www.gerbilfat.com/hosted/fur.....ean/toilet.jpg
It's a shame we had to scrub it off at the end of the year. I was rather fond of Foxyfluffs, myself.

He cleaned up, which is why I'm not saying names and why I don't want to embarrass him. We had to be really harsh with him, but he understands now why we did the things we did. His hygiene was so bad that not only was it negatively impacting his own health and living situation, but the health of others, to the point where I had people sleeping on my couch just to not be sick from mold for a few nights. He's not a bad person - just someone who genuinely wants to make friends but doesn't really know how to. He knows that we had to be like that with him to make him see that he was hurting himself by being like this because nobody ever wanted to be around him or be friends with him. I'm looking forward to next semester when he moves back because he'll be able to start the next year on the right foot.
It started out in the bedroom (pillow and mattress), but spread to the carpeting, bathroom walls, and in the vents in the rest of the apartment. The problem with it being under the carpet and vents is that we couldn't really clean it (oh but we tried, trust me, even rented a steam cleaner for two days). I don't think this person created the initial mold growth, but rather created conditions that allowed the mold to grow to such a huge extent. We're in Florida, so building mold is a constant problem down here.
I think I'm really sadden that it had to go to that length at all. I am glad the guy straightened up though. I just don't understand how a person can live that way. There was a guy that used to be a roomate to me that was virtually the same way. :/ Cept he just utterly refused to do anything about it so he got the boot.
Oh, we were angry it had to get to that point too, but now we have an amazing story to tell about what we were doing for half a semester. If the guy was an asshole or whatever, we wouldn't have bothered, but he's a genuinely nice person that just had some problems. It's a shame not every smelly roommate story ends well, though.
I've met my fair share of greasy animu nerds who don't shower as well. I don't want to say the 'not bathing' problem is specific to the furry fandom - it's not by any stretch of the imagination. I just think that 'nerd' fandoms tend to collect more of these ill-functioning individuals than others.
Amen to that, I rmember I had a friend who loved anime and that was his life, he stayed over and never bathed the 3 months he was with us! He just glued himself to the comp and never got off given to go to the bathroom or a con D<
Maybe not just those two things but I agree with you /:

This is totally epic. Thankfully I and my roommates are clean people, got any other ideas for bath drawings? :3
I know about the mold. Gotta stay on top of it. Here in Georgia, mold grows freely in any sutiation. Our old apartment was full of it, some units were vacant and the walls were covered in black spots (puke emoticon goes here). Most tenants simply called the maintenance crew, who would spray Kilz on it and call the job done. We actually spent a lot of time diligently disinfecting and cleaning ours. Having a nasty roommate certainly would exacerbate the mold issue!
Sucks I didn't see this a few years ago. When I was in college, we ended up getting someone evicted because of his stench.

There was a fire in this building a few years before we moved into it, on the third floor. The sprinklers went off, and the water ended up soaking down into the second floor, where this person lived, and drying. The mold cultured by the water had all dried up and died, and it wasn't an issue. The conditions this person created in the apartment we think is what allowed the mold to come back to life and eventually become a problem on the entire 2nd floor and eventually get through the entire building. I ended up buying a dehumidifier to help keep it out of my apartment.
We're in Florida, so I definitely sympathize with your mold issues. :(

I laughed so hard reading the comments on that blog for this picture - this picture has really gotten around quite a lot more than I expected. Somewhere along the line, the mention that it was specifically for a furry got lost, and I think that confused quite a few people.
This dude was (is?) a huge furry. Spend a lot of $$$ on Furcadia kind of furry. It was one of those classic 'move away from home for the first time and what do' situations where he unfortunately had no self-care skills at all but wasn't a fundamentally bad or broken person.
Parents, please teach your kids how to do things like how to run a washing machine and why it's important to bathe regularly! Dorm residents everywhere will thank you!
