Alcoholioness 2024 has been a tough year. I've been connected to more cables and tubes than ever before I think, and more to come!
Long live the synthetics keeping me alive~ Strong year for the Cyber Val.
At the same time it's been a year of remarkable progress! It's been a slow and steady climb out of the pit I've been in. I've left 2 jobs behind, taking one step further up on the ladder each time.
I may not be out of the pit just yet, but at least I'm not stuck in the mud at the bottom.
That feeling of being in control instead of just getting pulled along is intoxicating.
So this summer I decided to celebrate the best way I know:
Metal / Alternative concerts and festivals with friends.
... and lots of booze. And some additional enhancers ;)

Dark Tranquility
Amon Amarth + Insomnium + The Halo EffectSadly we missed Yngwe Malmsteen and Behemoth + Testament (sold out) but the highlights were definitely Dark Tranquility and Amon Amarth. The latter offered such an amazing end to summer by bringing fire and thunder (literally) at the very end of August, and had the most epic stage presence and an audience in ecstasy. They made half the audience sit down on the ground and "row" as they roared "put your back into the oar!" and we actually made it into Sweden Rock Magazine xD If you look at their clip of it, there is a Val hidden somewhere in that audience :3 The night after the concert we had a violent thunderstorm after which the temperature dropped and the leaves started changing, and I couldn't imagine a more spectacular crecendo to celebrate the end of summer.
Now I just wait for the next show, where the horrors of Alcest will enter the stage in the dark and dreary November~
