The first bit is actually in just about every social media TOS and exists to protect them if they use a screenshot of their website in an ad or other official material and your post is in it. (I've seen this song and dance done in a panic a dozen times on a dozen websites and this is like the 5th time people noticed it was in the twitter TOS)

The second part giving them rights to train their AI on your media however, thats the real issue. That and the changes to blocking to make the site even more toxic.

Honestly I agree with the first bit you said; I don't like legalese bs because they could just... give that example and it would clear things up. Leaving it open-ended makes it easier for them to weasel in different things too though, I feel- like the AI training thing. They're obviously not going to start selling mugs with your art on it- not directly anyway.

I'll play Devil's Advocate for a second and say that FA has really crap blocking too but this site isn't exactly a good benchmark for measuring other sites...

Think of it this way, if they actually tried to claim ownership of media posted to their site, consider how many brands like Disney use the website. Imagine them trying to claim they own the Star Wars logo because Disney posted it to their website.

That's true yeah.
Though as a soft counterpoint (as in, anecdote; not an argument) there's a bunch of AI gifs that have the shutterstock logo baked in because all the source images were scraped from there. XP
