This is the sunset version of my Talespin fanart (seen here-- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/58648807/ )
Honestly, I like this version better than the original. I am glad I took the time to alter the lighting and colors.
Talespin was a cool show, and it has an interesting origin history. Originally, the writers of the show wanted to make something similar to the "Roger Rabbit" universe, and created an idea where Baloo, and his friend Randy, were cartoon actors trying to help other cartoon actors in Hollywood. The show had two working titles, "B-Players" and "Baloo & Randy," and would have other popular Disney appearances, such as Cruella De Ville as one of the villains, and Faun Deer, who later appeared in "Bonkers." That show eventually split into TWO shows: "Talespin" which kept Baloo, Louie and Shere Khan in its story; and "Bonkers," which combined the "living toon" idea with a "buddy cop" theme.
Talespin only lasted for one season, but that season was 65 episodes, all of which you can get on Amazon video. If you don't wanna pay the Amazon video prices, you can find the entire series on DVD for a good price. I fully recommend it.

If I were still running my Crimson Skies campaign I'd probably have ended up asking permission to use this. Twin booms, tail-riders and triplane Devastators. It drew from Tales of the Gold Monkey and a little known Hayao Miyazaki manga HikÅtei Jidai. And yet what it really represents is the best Crimson Skies series we'll ever get and a furry one to boot!
Most of my air pirate crews would have absolutely committed cold blooded murder to have a carrier like the Iron Vulture.

If you ever played War Thunder (I never did), they had a special "Tail Spin" event, where the ultimate prize was the "Sly Duck." The Republic of Air Pirates also had a giant airship that sorta looked like the Iron vulture. Check out the video here-- https://warthunder.com/en/news/7112.....ame-en?page=11
IIRC there was also a stage in development where Talespin would have been about Baloo and Louie traveling around and getting into adventures. The implied setup being that the Sea Duck was a "tramp cargo plane" with no real home base.
One or two episodes seem to be remnants of this, (no Becky, no Kit, Louie doesn't seem to have the bar yet).

Tremendous piece for a tremendous show, Gunmouth.
"Look around you, Baloo. Up here you're free as a bird. The skies are yours"
I think this is my favorite line of dialog from any cartoon I watched as a kid. Talespin had so much heart and such an interesting premise. Dunno if u ever caught "Tales of the Gold Monkey" but that's another influence of the show's origin.
The concept of reusing old characters for a new series wasn't new to Disney, but doing so in a such a way that you incorporate a 1930s setting involving dogfights with sky pirates, treasure hunting in exotic locations, and meddling in the affairs of totalitarian regimes all while soaring along an Aaron Copland inspired score... Damn, Disney really made a lasting impression with Talespin.
Getting back to that initial quote - The Old Man and The Seaduck is probably my favorite episode from the series. Every so often the show would touch nerves with stories of Baloo needing to learn a lesson or regaining confidence in himself and his abilities... It hits home harder rewatching it as an adult.
