For your consideration, MFF 2024:
It all started after I left the artist alley, later than intended, as usual. I stumbled up to the hotel, to figure out dinner plans, with Desmond and Deiser. That's where i met Fortune for the first time, and Articus for the second time. We were all pretty hungry, and between the five of us... nobody had any plan for food. The hotel buffet was an option, but we'd been there so often that it was getting a expensive. And none of us were ready to resort to McDonalds... yet! So we did what any group of nerds would do: formed an adventuring party and wandered all over the darn place!
We bounced a bunch of half baked ideas about while we worked our way to the massive hotel parkinglot- i figured we'd end up at the Fashion Outlet Mall, as they have good food court. However, taking a different route than usual, we made our way to the far side of the parkinglot, finding some sliding doors out there. And then we stumbled into gosh-darn NARNIA! Seriously, having been to this Con for so many years, and having driven all over the area- stepping into this picturesque outdoor mall, which NONE of us knew existed, was disorienting to say the least! We're talking 2 blocks of restaurants, bars, bowling alleys, (and skydiving?) all around a Family Ice-Skating Rink- all in full Christmas lights.
But our adventure wasn't over yet! Zeroing in on the first Mexican restaurant we saw, we found the place downright overcrowded. Deiser took it on himself to figure out how long the wait was, and we nearly lost him in the mass of humanity. Retrieving our companion, we pushed on. The bars seemed a good option, but they didn't seem to have anything substantial for food. The remaining restaurants were closed for private events. The Bowling Alley? Closed for private events. We were about to call the whole mission a bust- when we spotted another Mexican Restaurant, on the second story of one of the buildings. Providence! It was a lovely little location- no line- we got seated right away, AND got a seat next to the balcony above the Christmas lit Ice Rink!
This absolutely LACK of a plan, somehow turned out perfectly!
