Happy April Fools Day, everyone!
By its very nature, Forbidden Arts attracts magic users, who have a tendency to be pretty mischievous. As much as Blaire tries to ward against it, this means the staff are no strangers to April Fools pranks pulled on them by their clientele; a few years ago, for example, one of them turned Dawn and Kristina into fertility idols. This year, the shop got caught in the crossfire between two magical pranksters who, by sheer coincidence, each entered through a different door at the exact same time-- right after the shop opened at 9 in the morning. Neither prankster had ever met the other before, and they hadn't coordinated their plans with each other, though they were both familiar faces to the employees: Maddy was an old friend of Mona's from back in the TF Duel Club days, and Black Spade had attended a gaming night at Blaire's house months earlier, and had bested her, Dawn and Mona in strip poker in the most humiliating way imaginable.
Maddy entered through the upstairs door, into the adult recreation section of the store, and was greeted by Mona and Dawn; for her prank, she presented the two of them with berets as gifts. As soon as the two workers placed them on their heads, though, the hats drained all their color and turned them into mimes. Meanwhile, Black Spade entered through the basement door, and used a magic bicycle horn that turned anyone within earshot of its honking into a colorful clown. Blaire was turned into a ditzy, silly buffoon with a raunchy sense of humor, and all her potent magical abilities intact; she used those to turn her junior employee Iris into a completely inanimate balloon dog. At the same time, Caterina was turned into a limber harlequin juggler, befitting her Italian origins-- her clothing was transformed into a skintight patterned costume, her face was obscured behind a black mask, and her beautiful wavy dark hair was turned into a bright green removable wig, under which her painted head was now completely bald and smooth.
Inevitably, Maddy and Black Spade eventually got in each other's way, and there was a brief clash between the mimes and clowns. But of course, with the mimes being immune to sound-based magic and the clowns unwilling to accept Maddy's berets as gifts... it ended with a stalemate pretty quickly. XP
