Today is a huge day for me. It’s honestly surreal that I finally get to share this with you all.
Everyone, meet my new sona—Moona! (Or Moonarokxal (Moo-nah-rock-zal) for long, haha.) She’s been in the works for over a year now, mostly because personal art is such a pain to make time for. But there were also tons of roadblocks figuring out what I wanted her to be.
EDIT: I do want to make it clear that Danie is still my sona, but just wont be the "face" of my brand much anymore. I still go by Danie, Moon, Moonski, all that!
I wasn't going to get into this originally, but I feel I need to be transparent. As some of you know, over a year ago I dealt with a situation I hope no one finds themselves in. Disturbing rape art was drawn without my consent or knowledge of Danie by an artist and commissioner I trusted. I hate that it still effects me but... it does. FA no longer feels the same anymore and its sad to put it lightly. I've wanted to make a western dragon sona for years but never got around to it. This event has definitely pushed me to have a clean slate in some effort to feel like I can place myself somewhere.
Moona is now officially my "rebrand". New face, new start, new vibe—though her name still ties back to mine here. Don't worry, I'm still lil ol' me, and I will still use Danie and draw her when I can, but I feel she needs to take a step back. Not sure if this will be very jarring for people, but know she will always be special to me and that will never change. In fact, that's exactly why I feel the need to do this.
Its been ages since I designed another oc, let alone a sona. Moona holds new things I want to explore, a design that holds so much easter eggs and encompasses all that I love and enjoy. She will never be Danie, but I see it as in a way the torch has been passed, like if Danie's love and soul is the heart of Moona.
If you look closely, her eyes are the same color as Danie, cuz its still *me* but, y'know, not. She also always wears that pink horn ornament. A bracelet Miza had given me on his first visit, pink with a lil paw. It became the Danie bracelet of course. Again, another homage to who she is.
I have lots of exciting ideas for Moona, I honestly feel like Im 15 again, thinking of abilities, world building, habits and every interesting thing there is that usually never gets explored with most ocs I feel. Moona is very much in touch with the space around her. Im not exactly sure where she lives, if its earth or something totally different, but her power (or curse) is that shes very in-tune with celestial events within the galaxy she is living in. Those events affect her body in all kinds of ways. Example, maybe she feels a particularly stronger pull from a black hole for a moment and her eye sight is distorted. Or she gets light belly aches when its high tide or solar storms... Idk I haven't worked all this out xD but there is so much to play around with.
Her "breath" or element was something that was a struggle to get right but I am so happy with it. Had a bit of help from friends but settled with Cosomic frost with spiraling plasma! I really wanted to have more of a coldness to her because of how deathly cold space is. It’s not exactly solid ice—more like an ultra-dense, freezing gas. Though it behaves like a semi-solid upon impact, delivering a sharp, forceful collision. She superheats her targets first, weakening their structure then flash-freezes the surface, making them brittle. Or even vaporization where the shifts are extreme enough.
Again, not totally worked out but Im excited to see what else I can do with this!
So here marks a new era. I am very happy and thankful to everyone who encouraged me, supported me... thank you. As many issues as I've dealt with I have to remember to acknowledge the good. Love you all ❤️

She is simply gorgeous! I do like her Legiana-inspired wings and cosmos themes. I saw how long it took to nail that breath attack effect but it paid off ^_^
The markings on her side reminds me of Toothless' markings from HTTYD1. They're subtle but adds intresting pattern there. :) Well done!

She's GORGEOUS. I'm still so sorry that all happened to you though. I remember seeing the og journal and being appalled because I was actually thinking of commissioning that... person.
No amount of money is worth doing that to someone and to there's no excuse for it.
But that aside, Moona is beautiful and I hope to see more of her. A rebrand, even if it's just a name change, can be such a refresher. And sometimes needed.

Yeah and sucks because they still work together so in all honestly, feels there little to no repercussions. But it is what it is sadly

Holy crap, that breathweapon! I see some DNA of your previous designs in here - it's so cool that you're paying homage to the past while developin' your future self. Lovin' this.
No shade for being affected by what happened. Working over that and using it to fuel a new representation of yourself is rad as fuck and, no doubt, represents a hell of a lot of work both on this and on the inside. Nothin' but love.

Legiana inspired for sure! Wings, I HAD to okayy. You also make a really good point about Nergigante, that was totally on accident xDD I thought of cattle horns where they have the black tips on them but Nergi has the same toned horns! Happy accident!

She is beautiful!!! Very good tastes x3 from experience I can say having a new sona as you as a person grows, is really....freeing? Nice? Its nice to represent who you are *now*. I will always love my Sonas but I grow and so do they in turn :) enjoy your new journey with your new lady!

Man it's Dragons like you that make me want to get a Western Dragon OC. She looks absolutely gorgeous and I'm glad you can finally start the process of healing with Moona as your new identity.

It definetly helps making something that feels a bit more like you rather than a character from a franchise! Dont get me wrong, I still love httyd and night furies. Danie is also still a main sona, she just wont be the face of everything xD But my name is unchanged! Moon, Moonski, Danie, all are valid :p
