One day, Jasmine, a purple tentacle-haired Inkling, was working on a new ink weapon for her next match. It was a small pink tennis ball-sized orb, semi-translucent, and looked like a ball of gum. It was somewhat of an escape device, as one of the biggest conundrums during matches was being the line of someone’s Ink blasts, but not having enough time to dodge. The ball was made to get herself out of such desperate situations, as squeezing it would cause the ball to rapidly expand, instantly enveloping the user in a translucent bubble. The bubble would instantly lift them in the air and then bring them back onto the ground, popping and spreading Gooey ink all over the combatants.
With the mischievous chuckle, Jasmine stuck it in her pocket, walking off to get ready for her next match, which she knew was going to be an absolute splash.
Once entering a battle toyale, it didn't take long before things got chaotic, with ink splattering all over the arena, and taking out contestants left and right. Almost as soon as the match started, Jasmine found herself staring down the barrel of an ink bazooka, grabbing her new invention in hand just in time to see the projectile zooming towards her.
POMF!
In the blink of an eye, she was encapsulated within the pink protective bubble, bouncing out of the way right before the projectile splattered all over the floor. The bubble zoomed into the sky with her tumbling inside, feeling as if she had just been stuffed into a dryer. Even when she braced her arms and legs against the slippery surface of her protective orb, everything was twirling so fast she couldn't even see what was around her any longer. The inkling couldn't even tell which way was up or down. However, once the bubble stopped spinning, the Inkling immediately understood why. Jasmine’s body felt weightless, the sky was dark and twinkling, and the moon was right beside her, looking much bigger than it should have, especially in broad daylight.
With a gasp, she looked down to see the planet Earth beneath her, the only sound breaking the deafening silence of the vacuum outside was the squeaking of her elastic bubble. “Well… that worked a little too well…” she felt a tinge as she felt the momentum of her gum bubble slowly flying back to earth, resuming its trajectory to bring her back down to the field. Though at this range, it would take hours. With a defeated sigh, the inkling let the bubble cradle her as she leaned back, knowing that it was gonna be a long trip home.
“Maybe my next prototype won't get me disqualified.”
