Abandoned space stations tend to have this "issue". With the lack of people, there's a surplus of oxygen (assuming life support wasnt shut down). So the plants in the greenhouses and indoor gardens grow and start to creep inside the machinery. While that could create accidents, in most cases it's as if they know exactly how to plug any holes in the hull.

I'm laying in bed wondering if I wanted to know if his suffering matter to anyone that wasn't there... for myself I was lost in how to properly assest their own maintenance; giving them a measure of breathe only so miniscule rusting of the ships nearly working humidity and weather controls..
