We still need to know how his father even knew he was with his uncle in the first place. It's unlikely his uncle told his father, so perhaps his father was spying on him somehow, or noticed him in the city. Which also means his father might know about his new relationship. And if so, his father is trying to destroy it right now by showing up, sadly.
Indeed, it's hard to imagine these kinds of parents existing in today's day and age. The world we have now, at least in the civilized first world countries, this type of horrifying parenting mistake would be less and less common. Might make way more sense back in the 1980's, though.
