This is a much older piece as apart of my world building plans (And probably the only one I'll post here since its the fanciest looking), exploring the potential look of some of the space craft. Specifically those belonging to the manufacturing style of the Saturn's SEAL Spaceworks corporation, while not the hero ship itself this vessel I specifically designed as the hostile one in a mock space battle I'd thought up in my head that I thought was pretty neat.
Visually it has alot of the same ques I'd like to adapt to eventually drawing the Barrentine which would be the ship Pal 5k & Sass operate, things like the radiators and what not would be highlights in both, but unlike the Xalir here which has 2 rotating engine pods the Barrentine features four extra maneuverable ones.
All the vessels in the setting are fairly huge compared to alot of sci-fi I've seen, this being one of the smallest ones in the setting that does all the things ya can imagine a spaceship doing. Its name says alot about its proposed fighting style, taking advantage of its maneuverability and relative speed the Xalir excels in combat at the cost of poor general capabilities. Generally I see these playing a security force role given they need frequent berthing compared to most ships.
Its this extreme agility that makes it such a fun fight in my head compared to the main character ship The Barrentine which is also unusually nimble for a utility vessel given its "tugboat" nature. Its supposed to be a near impossible win that gets far too close for comfort to losing as a battle.
Heat plays a major role narratively as a tension element in said fight, and ships have to switch to active coolant dumping and stow their radiators when engaging in fights as they're too delicate to keep exposed.
Similarly to the first Pal piece with Sass riding on top (this was made before infact) this too used a crappy blender model I quickly threw together and then painted over, those two pieces in general are the only ones to really use the technique and I hope to return to it eventually with more skill.

Appreciative of comment, especially for this piece which I didnt expect to get much traction lol.
Pieces like this are a very big change of pace for me, since as mentioned the techniques at play are quite different, and I'd let myself use stuff like the line tool unlike usual for the more character focused "organic flowly" stuff. Still creating a compelling base model simple shapes wise took way longer than I'd expected, "finding" that spaceship feel is surprisingly rough, I have a few more I want to explore eventually but its hard to even think up a good sizable roster so far. Makes me even happier this one turned out as it did.
