I have the most random feeling that once most of her sisters are sloshed, some plot is going to be revealed, and because Zaphira has been pouring her drinks into plants (I'm guessing either she is a teetotaler/willingly abstains from alcohol for any variety of reasons or just doesn't like how booze effects her) she's the only one who can act to prevent the devious plot. That or she'll have lots and lots of blackmail on her sisters and an absurdly large bill to deal with.
I can see that being the case, especially after the mess at the bath, i mean her sisters just told her that she shouldn't marry him due to inherent social conditions (it's the ancient world, things just used to work that way back then), i bet that if she's already pregnant (and seeing how many times they've fucked so far it really might be, it might be Zum's way of saying "the porn ends here", we'll see) she might just be quite a bit conflicted about bearing the child of a fennec her sisters insist she should just fuck and dump.
I can see her being hesitant to deliver that information.
Either that or she just doesn't like to drink, Basa is going to give a hell of a scare to shen and there will be a massive misunderstanding culminating in the plot's resolution.

Imagine if that wasn't the case but Basa thought it was, and he just dumped the thing on shen because he's pissed about having to be his "mandated friend".
I can see that being the premise for a funny misunderstanding/resolution scene where Zaph opens up about what happened at the bath, and masters up the courage to properly confront her sisters.
Then they get married, go on a wedding trip, fuck and she gets pregnant for real.

Hahahaha! Imagine if this was so common an occurrence, people pouring their drinks into the potted plants, the owners had specifically invested in fake ones with false dirt so the discarded drinks collected in a reservoir underneath and were actually considered a sort of joke specialty. Since they would probably be awful after a few random drinks were poured in and mixed together, but no reason to let good booze go to waste.
True this place is probably far to fancy for something like that but it's an amusing notion that over decades of seeing the more shy or dry patrons pour their drinks into the live plants, and probably killing several of them, that they devised a way to save on every last drop.
