I don’t want to write too much regarding the passing of Steve Jobs. Others far more eloquent and poignant than me have paid better tribute to him than I could hope to. All I can really say is how he effected me personally, and in doing so hopefully pay my respects to a man who, for all intensive purposes, changed the face of technology as we know it.
I grew up pretty much right along side the Apple company. The first computer my family owned was a Macintosh SE/30. I learned how to use a computer through the Mac. And except for a relatively short switch to Gateway desktops during late middle school & high school until I left for college, I’ve used Apple computers. And now, I make my living primarily using computers. I’m not sure I could say the same thing had Steve not pushed the personal computer towards the user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing format we take for granted today.
But beyond Apple, there’s Pixar. I’ve always fantasized about working for Pixar. It’s the reason I’ve ever had any interest in 3D modeling and animation. Yes, John Lasseter had the idea and the initial vision for the company, and is an obvious central pillar to making Pixar what it is. But without Steve’s financial support and eternal faith through the early years when no one else believed in them, Pixar very likely could have just stayed a dream in Lasseter’s head. It could have turned into something completely different from what it is today had a different financial backer come in and taken the company in a different direction. If you love Pixar for what it is today, you have Steve to thank for a lot of that.
Even if you dislike Apple, you can’t deny the impact Steve and his ideas and developments have had on technology and entertainment. Even the strongest Anti-AppleHead have Steve to thank, directly or indirectly, for something they use every day or get a lot of enjoyment out of. It’s rare that one person can have such a dramatic, measurable impact. I’m honored to have lived to see him accomplish it, but equally sad I had to see him go.
To quote lyrics by another major influence on my life, who also passed before his time, Michael Jackson:
“Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight
Here one day, gone one night.
Gone too soon…”
RIP, Steve Jobs.

This is very true. It's sad too see such an innovative and iconic person pass on, but
You might want to check out http://www.g4tv.com/videos/39072/g4.....e-jobs-part-1/ if you haven't seen it already. It's a documentary they made for Steve Jobs
To quote Steve Jobs:
"Your time is limited so don't waste it living someone else s life.
Don't be trap by dogma, which is living with the results of what others think.
Don't let the noise of others opinions drown out your inner voice.
Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become."
This is something I'm going to start living by.

I found out through Google about his passing
Right underneath the search bar wrote "Steve Jobs 1955-2011"
It's a shame to see him go
I've used Apple computers every now and then during my years in grade school, and now I use a MacBook Pro for ALL of my needs. I just hope the company doesn't change for the worse now that he's not around
And I never knew he contributed to the birth of Pixar

First of all, I had no idea Mr. Jobbs had SUCH a big role in Pixar. No wonder they're the go-to guys for CGI movies, not that the other guy's aren't good, but Pixar= SRO.
Secondly, Give it time, Apple's going to go strong, and for YEARS. But eventually it will slip. If you don't agree, look at Disney. Disney beleived in wolesome FAMILY entertainment, regardless the effort and money it required. Now, Disney's a cesspool of teen pop stars (granted, they have music talent, and can probably act), with POORLY written, and TERRIBLY cliched sitcoms. Granted its movies are still good. But home entertainment, the cartoons (the ones they have) and shows show us a shell of what Disney once was.
As dismal as it seems, I feel Apple will unfortunately go the same way. Take a look at the new I Phones. Oh, I know they do more than the last models and with less. But look at the packaging- the same. Mr. Jobbs knew that when you make a new model, you make it LOOK new, like something different, better! It's all about the packaging, and he understood that, and had the genius to step up to the plate. This new guy, from what I've seen in that fiasco, doesn't.

In defense of the current iPhones, they were developed completely under Job's direction. And anything to come from Apple in the next couple years was developed in part by Jobs as well. Tech companies plan YEARS in advance, as it takes time to develop and fine-tune tech. If Apple product quality fades due to a lack of Job's "special touch", it won't be for another few years.
Also, the differences between iPhone 4 to 4S is about the same as iPhone 3 to 3G. It's internal hardware upgrades rather than a fancy shell. Most people with phones are on a 2 year upgrade cycle, so to have a 100% ground-up brand new phone every year makes little sense. this upgrade is for people bought 3Gs but couldn't get the 4 because they were still locked in contracts. The 5 will come next year, and will have all the upgrades & external improvements people were hoping for this time around.
I think half the reason people were disappointed with the 4S is that the rumor mill buzz was saying 'iPhone 5" for months. It's not necessarily Apple's fault they got people hyped up for something they weren't going to get, or at least not entirely their fault.
Everything else though I do agree with. I am concerned about the future of Apple; I'm fully invested in their products, and really hope that years from now they have the same quality as they do currently.
