
I like to go to the zoo and sketch when I can. But, usually, if there’s an animal about, people show up and it gets too crowded to sketch very well. But, a camera helps me take the reference home. However, cameras have their limits. When it’s getting dark, like when I snapped this photo, my little camera, well, the photos either become blurred, or there are lots of artifacts. However, if I make the image sepia-toned, it makes it look like an old-timey photo… and that’s at least presentable.
This particular wolf was of interest to me, due to the odd lines in his fur. If I’d seen someone actually draw a wolf like that, I would have said it was wrong. So, this is just another reminder to myself to keep an open mind, both in life and in art.
