Finished my first quilt. I learned a lot doing this one; I think the next one will lack some of the flaws that this one has. Still, this should be a very sturdy quilt for years and years of cozy use. It's pictured on a queen sized bed, with my cat. :P
The basics: mostly queen sized, took an estimated 20 hours over 6 months to make, the rainbow top is quilting cottons bought in color packs, and the black bottom is a 400 thread count flat sheet from an old sheet set. I made it on my basic Brother machine from Walmart, without any special feet.
I mostly followed this Instructable to make this quilt: http://www.instructables.com/id/How.....-Quilting-101/

                    This came out SO BEAUTIFUL against black! I like how you compensated on the bottom edge, it came out really smooth and took me a minute to see. Well done!
Man, now I am jealous of it now that it's all finished, I just redid my bed in black/rainbow. I should make myself some quilt thing!

                    Thanks for noticing about the compensation. :) I tried really hard to smooth that uneven part out and did the same with the quilting, since I couldn't do straight rows (my blocks were too janky). I think in general it's not very noticeable unless you got right up on it, and it's still great for use!

                    Not too much to pry! I posted a WIP picture a few weeks ago stating that I'd be willing to trade for it. For something this big I asked for about $150 of trade value in money, craft goods, or art - future quilts I think will turn out better and this size would need to be $200 or $250. Smaller quilts I'd have to research and see what the going rate is on like Etsy. I don't think though that I'd take on specifically quilt trades unless they were very small quilts...probably just going to poke around when I have one about to be done and see who is interested. :)
Thanks very much for the compliments!

                    Great idea to use a black backing on this it really makes those happy bright colors 'pop'. I totally admire your gusto!
I always cheat and put a huge thick plain border on all my little quilts to make them look bigger >.>;

                    I dunno! It depends on how big of a quilt you wanna trade for. ;) If you want a big queen or king sized quilt it'd have to be a really big trade. If you wanted to start with some pretty quilted pillow cases or something (then I could match it to what you have more easily), you could do some nice time/money equivalent collages for me to put up in my house? What do you think of that?
