I have originally intended to enter something in the Save the Boobies! contest, but I wound up not finishing it before the deadline, so I kinda put it aside (I'll finish it eventually) and started just drawing what was on my mind, which was, of course, my mother.
Mom died almost exactly a year ago from breast cancer, and I swore that the first tattoo I'd get would be a memorial tattoo for her, which is what this is. I haven't decided on the text yet (which may or may not go in the ribbon), but this is definitely what I want to do.

Not that it isn't a beautiful design, but (speaking as someone with a few of his own) I don't think it would come out quite the way you would imagine, unless it was very large. The shading, and the parts of the linework that are thinner, with details close together, will be very difficult to pull off.
If I may suggest, visit your local tattoo parlors (and maybe some not-so-local, if there are some you've heard about), and find one you feel comfortable in, that's willing to work with you on a design (pay close attention to their hygiene, too!). You'll get a better idea of what looks good in a tattoo, and knowing what they charge can also help you decide the level of detail you want in your design.
One final note: Don't go with an artist with less than 5 years experience. Trust me on this.
Good luck! ^^

Oh, I've already talked to some of the guys and gals at Blue Flame Tattoos and Piercing (they did all my cartilage piercings, and they're the best in town. It's cleaner than a doctor's office), and we discussed how big it would have to be to include text, and how much the details would have to be smoothed down. Obviously, the strokes I used would not work unless I were intending for this thing to take up my entire back, which is not my intention at all.
I'm going to work with the image, and with the tattoo artists at Blue Flame and see what we can do to clean it up a bit into a more reasonable tattoo design.

*laughs and pats you on the head* Yeah, I actually wanna smooth the highlights out a bit, make them more... solid, I guess is the word I'm looking for.
Have you ever seen Arphalia's art before? Her style was what inspired me for this piece, as well as the one I made my avatar from ("Look at the Stars"), and is kind of what I want to do with my shading~ (like on the tail in this pic: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/681940/ )
