I saw the first couple of episodes and honestly... it's pretty good.
By no means better than the original, you could feel effort put in this production. The actors do their best to nail their respectful characters especially Ian Ousley as Sokka (Katara, Azula, and Iroh needed a bit more work).
There are a few negatives. The story does indeed feel rushed with the plots of several episodes cramped into the first episode. The bending effects also lacked a certain oomph that we remembered from the cartoon as they moved a bit too slow.
The one benefit is that the series is not afraid to go dark. Oh yeah, we see actual deaths in these episodes especially the brutal Air Nomad Genocide (gives some Order 66 vibes).
Overall, a decent adaptation for an already epic show but needed a little more polishing.
8/10
