Well, RIP
I'm not going to rant like i did the first time (addendum: well, i tried not to...)
Though i will say that anyone who actually wanted this to happen by voting for it is absolute scum. fuck you. everything has been out in the open for years now, his true colours have been on full display, and still you chose this. the first time could be pardoned, but now it's entirely conscious and deliberate. there's no excuse anymore. if you're one of those people, you're dead to me... but still not as dead as you deserve to be.
But yeah... third strike, that's it for the old USA. it had a chance to redeem itself and choose correctly this time... and failed drastically. it boggles my mind how so many hatemongers won. it boggles my mind that evil can win, especially when it's not even hiding its true nature anymore.
It's just... very disappointing. For a country that claims to love freedom, it sure does like electing people who's sole aim is to take it away.

I feel awful... Humanity can do better, but it refuses to...
Trump got a million people died lying about a deadly and contagious disease. And if he's serious about putting RFK Jr. in full control of HHS, there will absolutely be another one.
And I refuse to have any sympathy for anyone like that, nor will I ever let them excuse or deny what they did.
If I find out that someone voted for Trump, I will refuse to refer to them in any capacity and in any way other than "Trump voter," even if I'm the one who gets entrusted to write their obituaries.
also this is fear mongering bunkus to begin with. most people dont' give a shit.
Thanks for doing your part in that.
It wasn't Harris who said Trump admired Hitler and wanted generals like the Nazis. That came from multiple former members of his own cabinet.
Think about that: Everyone who knows him is against him. His home state voted against him three times, the majority of his former cabinet all had horror stories about him -- shit, even his first V.P. was almost murdered by him.
"Everybody's got a problem except for me!" squealed Trump. And the MAGAts were like "Yeah, that makes sense."
That was the one and only thing I ever disliked about Biden: How he looked across the aisle at a bunch of people screaming their heads off that he was a Satanic pedophile cannibal and said "Sure, I can work with that."
Once you give into hatred - you're cooked.
Me being told to "fuck off" several times by strangers, for telling them the truth, isn't self defense, its hypocrisy. We want the world to accept who we are, but refuse to treat each other kindly and feel threatened and want to attack everything. It looks bad on us.
You’re the only one here throwing lazy insults at me over issues I haven’t spoken about. I haven’t once made this about race or gender or sexuality.
Edit: oh wait no, one person did. FA comments are going screwy. Never designed for this, I guess.
There's no way to fix this, because its human beings that are the problem. That's why the best thing you can do, is live your life the best that you can, detach from the world's vices, emulate the life of Buddha, and move on.
IT ABSOLUTELY WOULD
The hatred and intolerance comes almost 100% from Republicans and Fox News and MAGA assholes driving a wedge as deeply as they can into the political climate and the literal lives of ordinary people in order to create an 'us vs them' mentality so they can then justify hurting, oppressing, and killing the oh-so-dangerous and deserving 'them'. It's bigotry, racism, queerphobia, trying to control women's bodies, acting like Kamala is going to force everyone to switch genders, fostering fear and misunderstanding in anyone who will listen. Myself and people like me are trying to heal the country, not by forcibly smashing together people who hate each other, but by educating those who will listen (like we're trying to do with you, and apparently failing) and legislating the power away from those who are dedicated to their hate. It's not going great, but we're trying. A Kamala win or a Democrat Congress would've been a huge boon to that mission.
Both sides are not created equally. Just because there are two sides to a situation doesn't mean they're evenly weighted. The state of the country is one of hate, intolerance, bigotry, cruelty, and yes, evil, vs those trying to live their lives unmolested, those trying to protect themselves and those they love, communities trying to stay safe or gain/maintain civil rights, and the loud ones like me that you see, people trying to make a difference. Acting like this means both sides are equally in the wrong is a form of spewing hate yourself, being bigoted by claiming that bigots should hold equal considerations as their targets.
'The best thing you can do' that you describe is an option available only to those who are safe. People whose lives are under threat right now, who may be ruined or killed as a result of this new regime, don't have the option of 'living their lives the best they can', because Trump and his minions will not allow them to live their lives unmolested, they will absolutely target, harass, and harm them, and take away as many of their rights as possible, legislating them to literally to death. People like me do not have the option of 'moving on' or emulating Buddha as you're saying oh so loftily and condescendingly. Our lives are literally at stake. I could be deported for being an immigrant, or jailed for drawing furry art. I could be forced to detransition, blocked from getting the procedures I need to feel okay in my body, forced to end my marriage, get murdered in a back alley by a bunch of red hats who think they're crusading for good and will be legally protected by their orange dictator-for-life. These are things Trump and his allies have promised. My only hope is that he's ineffectual and only bungles the country for four years instead of becoming the fascist dictator he's repeatedly said he wants to be.
The best thing you can do is not to put your head in the sand and go 'oh well that's just how people are' and try to take a 'Buddhist' attitude. Even that's a lie - Buddhists have always been very political and tried to speak against injustices and protect the weak and helpless. Have you never seen a burning monk? That's what we SHOULD be doing, not setting ourselves on fire, but protesting, reaching out, building communities and support networks, educating the misguided, forming shield walls around those who don't have the means to protect themselves alone. This isn't mindless, aimless 'hate' from the left.
You see the tiny section of the movement that revolves around 'people being mean to you' for your shitty tone and uneducated lecturing. I know you're a lost cause, or at least you damn well seem like it. I write here in hopes of someone curious and ready to learn reading what I write and maybe making up or even changing their mind because they actually believe me when I speak from a place of intimate knowledge and experience. You, on the other hand, are caught up on being 'above it all', so cool and detached, all-knowing, deploying droplets of wisdom to the hateful and hysterical.
Until you open your mind to the idea that there are experiences other than yours that are just as valid, that there might be things in this world you have no experience with and probably never will that are nevertheless intensely real for those who do deal with them, you'll be lost in the dark, fumbling blindly and only impressing other blind people. I wish you a very go fuck yourself until such time as you decide to actually learn something.
Nice try, Boris. How's the weather there in Vladivostok?
Tell that to her grieving family.
Go on. I fucking dare you.
You're mad because your political candidate didn't get voted in(understandable! elections are tough, usually more than half of people don't get what they want!), and your solution is to viciously mock, attack, other, dehumanize, and wish death upon people who didn't vote how you wanted them to? Have you ever considered that this attitude is perhaps what drives people away?
Have you tried taking some time to calm down before unleashing this fury at random furries and tryna invalidate their lived experiences? Gatekeeping people's identities and telling them they don't belong in communities they're a part of.... that's not healthy.
And I will be preemptively calling out whatever horrible shit you're about to sling at me for pointing out that you're the one being needlessly cruel to your own community members... I'm prepared to be ripped a new asshole, and to be perfectly clear, my entire point is "I think you're getting too upset and taking it out on the wrong people. If you want them on your side, try empathizing and developing a relationship to discuss differences."
I'm actually really fuckin' disappointed in you for this behaviour. It's not a good look. I understand you're upset, but wishing for death and harm on others? What the fuck is progressive about that???? It's authoritarian and sick. Do better.
This mentality of lashing out at people doesn't make people reconsidered their thoughts. It makes them despise you and at worst drive them to the opposition.
I would be terrified to meet this artist on a personal level, knowing just under the surface they support mass murder and projecting that violent hatred onto everybody that doesn't align with them politically....
Left-right dichotomy is useless when you have dangerous people like this artist thinking they're the "good guys" while perpetuating the exact behaviour they claim to be against!
And since you've blocked me, you're not supposed to contact me. It's a violation of the COC and could earn you a suspension.
As a Canadian, we have our own issues. Don't need to spend time educating myself about the drama of American politics.
This may be hard to comprehend, but the world doesn't revolve around the USA.
As a Canadian, we have our own issues. Don't need to spend time educating myself about the drama of American politics." If you don't know what you're talking about then don't.
"This may be hard to comprehend, but the world doesn't revolve around the USA." Correct. But it sure as shit is heavily affected by the US. the global 2008 recession was caused by the 2007 US housing crisis.
Guess Thera doesn't know about Google.
Citizens falling for this obvious dupe... Instead of uniting against the ruling class oppressing them...
I've been a leftist my entire life and still can't understand why other leftists are so hellbent on making us look *absolutely irredeemably unreasonable and cruel* at every turn. Wishing for death on people will never fucking be progressive and I will die on this hill. I don't want my preferred political allegiances being used to coerce, manipulate, and otherwise control people under the guise of being "the good ones". It is naive as shit and frankly problematic to cast yourself as inherently good, and others inherently bad... This only leads to violence and discord. I do not condone it, as it doesn't help society and only creates rifts and makes us easier to control as "underclass" if we are always picking fights and not addressing real issues.
No matter if R of D is in power, America marches forward. Two wings of the same corrupt bird.
I'm tired of having leftists become authoritarian shitstains who are intolerant of every idea that slightly deviates. "Everyone is a NAZI except ME; now follow my ideology or KYS" is the most childish mentality I have ever fucking seen, and THAT is the dominant voice in the left. Our movement is fucking doomed thanks to assholes like the SJW under me who are so blinded by hate and rage, they don't realizing they're attacking people on their own side and ACTIVELY LOSING SUPPORT WITH THEIR BAD BEHAVIOUR AND SNARKY QUIPS. Fucking nasty way to talk to anyone and I absolutely disavow this intimidation and shaming. So do the vast majority of Americans.
This current wave of leftism is doomed to fail because it's simply not empathetic or healthy. I wish all these frothing lunatics to find therapy and learn to emotionally regulate and stop catastrophizing and calling everyone else "evil" because we disagree with their blatant hysteria.
This got very rant-y. Ignore me.
The majority of queer people are plugged into politics such that they see how the right is still attacking them, even if it’s become more under-the-table now as public sentiment changes, gay rights aren’t that old and plenty of people still alive want to go back to a discriminatory time.
It is hard for folks keyed in to the ways republicans are going to attack us to empathize with neutral people like yourself who just don’t believe it’s going to be as bad as we think. And there’s a lot of people who “pretend” to be neutral in order to worm their right-wing opinion into lefter spaces and look justified when they get cast away. I believe in neutral folks but there’s a reason many of us have “their guard up.” There’s a sense that anyone who hasn’t listened to our leftist fears yet must be against us, and that surely no LGBT person could rightly be unafraid. Which is why we’re quick to point and say ‘privileged’ because some measure of distance from the harm they dish out seems like the only explanation for not being afraid of republicans. When they overturned Roe v Wade, living in a state that protected abortion or simply not having a uterus was a “privilege” in the sense one had distance from the consequences due to birth or circumstance. It’s never meant to mean one is a villain for being so, only that we want you to awknowledge the hardship it places on others and ideally voice support for them. Assumptions get made about people who don’t but these are not at the heart of the argument.
I ask only that you try to pay attention. You’re bi, minimum wage and sickly? I can’t convince you of it now but they will hurt you, unless you’re in a blue state that can protect some of your rights. They will make healthcare harder and more expensive than ever. They will give your bosses more power to wring you like a rag. (In)justice Clarence Thommas has already said they’re thinking of overturning the gay marriage rights decision. Again maybe you’re in a blue state like me that should protect it anyway, or at least try, but will you ignore the freedom taken from others?
Women have already died due to abortion bans. What would it take to admit were right to be scared? When they deploy the military to protests, will you believe them when they say they were violent and had to be put down? If they succeed in making so you can’t vote for their opposition in four years? When the FDA gets gutted and we head towards an Industrial Revolution lack of food safety? When they ban “obscene” content like furry porn, or at least make it much harder to access? Kick the artists off social media? They say they’re the champions of free-speech but that only counts for right-wing speech. o I know these fears sound far-fetched to you, and really honestly I’d love to be wrong.
Having said that, I personally cannot grasp the idea of having privilege just because of my skin color, given how time and time again both me and my mother (who is also a retired police officer) were constantly having struggles after struggles because of horridly corrupt governments. Especially now with this dickwat penguin-impersonator Milei as our leader (who is also a super fan of Trump, apparently!), I'm constantly seeing how we just... can't subsist at all, not even if we somehow had 3 jobs + the retirement wage from 27 years of service (...that is almost 50% of the minimum wage lmao), and witnessing more and more people I know getting just enough to survive for a few days until the end of the month.
All of this happening, regardless of anyone's skin color or ethnicity.
So, how exactly am I a privileged individual because of being white?
PS: Also a bi guy
But what happens when the place one lives in has little to no race issues? Am I still priviliged?
Any of these challenges are a privilege, rather than a position gained by race. Living in a first world country means being away from the hardships of poorer countries — even if you’re poor in a rich country, it would be worse to be poor in a poor country. When the US Supreme Court removed abortion rights, two privileged positions arose — those living in a state that protects abortion anyway, and those simply without a uterus. Those who could afford to travel, and those who could not. A very US example but it’s what I know.
And the key thing here is no one is trying to make people feel bad for that privilege unless they deny the hardship or not having it. I think the core thing is that it’s easy, when not faced with those challenges, to think they aren’t real. And it’s a way of saying “Hey, if you don’t face the challenges we do, you have no place saying they aren’t a big deal.” Which is why it gets pulled out when anyone says “Geez guys calm down it’s not that big of a deal.” And a lot of issues get paved over by convincing people not that they should be issues, but that they aren’t issues and that the people complaining are lying or overreacting. In the US there’s a public sentiment that “We agree that Racism is bad now.” But it’s in the favor of the racism that remains, for them to convince people “We defeated racism” because then you can frame people trying to fight existing racism as “Trying to get their own privilege over you.” So that’s why people try to call out the privilege of being in a position where you don’t have to see and accept those hardships. I accept my privilege: I’m white so I’m way more likely to have a safe interaction with the police. My folks made a lot of money during my childhood so I don’t know what it’s like to be poor and alone. But accepting these things means I listen when the African American community cries out about police brutality, rather than continue to believe as I did that such brutality was a few isolated incident. Despite my well off childhood I’ve done a lot of simple labor jobs in my adult life and empathize with the worker class — and still, I know I’m not as desperate as so many Americans are, and even *then* accept the privilege of what workers rights we do have here, though I’m terrified of what we’re about to lose. I don’t feel bad about my privileges, but awareness helps me vote in the interests of the more downtrodden. We can connect over shared hardships while still acknowledging privileges.
As Pichu says, there are other forms of privilege. Privilege means you have an easier time than those without, or with less; you're born into money, you've got a secure job, you're straight, you're cis, you're of the correct political party, you have or even have always had housing, you live and/or work in a safe neighborhood, your area has a low crime rate, you've never been in prison, you were raised by two cis/straight birth parents, nobody is stalking you, you have access to internet and/or phone service, you have a good relationship with your family, you were born into a protected class or caste, you have paler skin than other members of your ethic group, your government protects all of your rights, you can pass as 'normal' even if with some effort, you're allistic, you're allosexual, you're mentally and/or physically healthy - not saying you personally are any of those things, but those are all forms of privilege. Privilege also isn't a monolith; everyone is privileged in some ways and not in others, and while some people have a net amount of privilege that puts them in the majority and not an endangered group, or even makes their lives easier than the 'average' person in some case, many others lack enough privilege that they are put in the minority in the society they live in, that their lives or rights are in danger, or even just that they have a tougher time getting ahead than the 'average' person. By 'easier' I don't mean they didn't have to work for anything, that they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and everything was handed to them, but I mean their privilege lets them have a foot in the door, that they're given more opportunities in life to get ahead, that there was an outlet for their hard work and effort that a less privileged person never got the chance to have no matter how hard their put their nose to the grindstone or how hard they hauled on their bootstraps (funnily enough the phrase 'pulled up by your bootstraps' initially meant something impossible - lifting yourself into the air by pulling on your shoelaces). Did you know that, at least in the US, people with names that are culturally associated with being Black have their resumes passed over by most hiring managers even if they've never seen their faces? Even hiring managers that consider themselves to be 'not racist' - it's bred into them, it takes active effort not to do that automatically.
Humans oppress each other, it's a fact of life. Everywhere you go, everyone will have at least one form of privilege, and some people will be more privileged than others. Having the luxury not to care about this election is a privilege. Having the sense of safety to tell other people 'it's not that bad' or 'you're overreacting' is a massive privilege. Especially if you're located in a place affected by this election - and with how America treats its neighbors, that's damn near everywhere in the world. Quite honestly, if you live in a place that does trade with the US, it's NOT a privilege you have, even if you act like it. Tariffs will fuck over your economy. Pro-'freedom' military policies will threaten your safety as a country. Deporting immigrants and destructive immigration policies will make your vulnerable even more vulnerable to the horrors they're trying to escape. Dictators allying with Trump will push all your noses deeper into the dirt. This election affects nearly everyone in the world. You ARE privileged in some ways - everyone is, someway, somehow. I can't speak to whether you personally are more or less privileged than the average person where you live. But you DON'T have the privilege to not care about what happened here, and thinking you do will only leave you surprised and unprepared when shit gets worse for everyone.
I’d love to be wrong but I’m quietly sharpening my “I told you so.” The leopards are gonna eat a lot more faces this time around.
But honestly, while 100% fuck every last republican politician, we should be welcoming of anyone who comes around to “Oh fuck it really is that bad.”
Its not the end. Its BAU (business as usual) and its tiring yes, but life goes on. Question is, can the Democrats organize themselves in four years time. I don't know. I really don't know. This begs the question of who thought it a good idea to nominate Kamala after her handling of the Guatemala scandal. Her ratings tanked after that.
But I suspect it won;t be long before we can say “I told you so”
Sorry, I forgot to come back to reply to this. Thank you, it's appreciated. Stay aware, keep on fighting back.
We must be ready
I remember when T won in 2016, I saw journals and pictures from R artists rubbing it in everyone's faces. When B won in 2020 I saw no posts or pictures from D artists shitting on the other side for losing, and now this year again, with him winning, the R artists are again making journals and art being absolute shitheads (got so bad I had to block some).
Anyways, just trying to say, hey don't care about other people. They just want to be able to mock others and crap on them for their genuine concerns
And I'm sick and tired of pretending that these people are anything else. Or letting them pretend that they are anything else once all the shit we explicitly warned them would happen finally happens to them.
Next time you see a journal or "artwork" reveling in all the misery that's about to come or in the process of coming, put them on your block list, but also go into your block list and cut/paste their name at the top of it or somewhere else easy to find and remember.
If I know that anyone voted for Trump, I will do everything I can to ensure that they can never escape what they did -- that knowingly giving classified documents back to the man who stole them becomes their one and only legacy until the day they finally amount to something by becoming mulch.
The ones who truly hate are not going to be saved, but the ones who are simply living in a general state of angry misery can be shown a better way, but only if you don't just scream in their face about how stupid and pathetic you think they are, that only turns them INTO the ones who hate when you do it long enough.
So excuse me for thinking it's a rational conclusion that these people care more about causing others to suffer and die more than they care about keeping themselves alive.
Except -- oh, wait, that's how they were during the pandemic too! They literally risked their lives by deliberately sickening themselves with a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease just so they could try to pass it on to the rest of us! I was an essential worker during the pandemic -- I saw exactly what kind of monsters they are!
So excuse me if I don't care to save their miserable worthless asses for a third time, nor to listen to listen to the bullshit excuses of their enablers.
Yes, exactly. I came in here to say something similar, thanks.
And we're supposed to be cool with that?
So yeah, fuck you.
In 2020, Trumpers deliberately exposed themselves to a deadly disease, often at the cost of their lives, in the shallow hopes that they could spread it around further and cause some liberals to die.
And you want me to be okay with that?
And now we have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this is what they want. Trump campaigned on doing the exact same things that screwed up the economy last time, so it's fair to assume that their agenda is economic ruin. Trump tried to destroy democracy as we know it on January 6th, so it's fair to assume that their agenda is to destroy democracy. Trump repeatedly delayed or denied disaster relief to blue states + Puerto Rico, so it's fair to assume that their agenda is for liberals to die. And Trump, after so horrendously botching the Covid pandemic, guaranteed there will be another pandemic by pledging to give full control of HHS to an anti-vaxx science denier, so it's fair to assume that they want millions more Americans to die in another pandemic.
I mean for fuck's sake, we already know he stole classified documents and shared classified data about the capacity of our nuclear submarines to foreign nationals. And what did these fucking vermin do? Give him access to those classified documents again!
So do not act even remotely surprised that I have no tolerance, no sympathy, and no wish except that they would all hurry up and become mulch for them, nor for you as you work tirelessly to try to excuse them.
i'm not the one who orchestrated project 2025, they did. they want LGBTQ people dead and they have the positions and the time to make that happen, now
You're advocating for the deaths of people, by wishing it. People who change their minds often, (because that's what people do, you may hate that but we are only human, we are flawed, we sometimes make informed decisions, and other times we as a human race make ill informed decisions because we are emotional, people are bouncing all over the political spectrum as we speak) is contemptible. And you need to own up to that.
You're aiding and abetting, filth who aid and abet the worst our species has needs to die as well.
Empathy has no place. you do not defend evil.
Deserve to live?? Listen to yourself for a moment. You're not going to gain support this way. You're not going to reorganize the party or have a strategy going forwards. Fight the good fight, but once you give into hatred, you are boned. It will overtake and consume you, I've seen it happen countless times.
I never mentioned tolerance. You brought that up. I'm talking about hatred/violence/threats of violence. Once you give into hatred, there can only be one victor in that fight - hatred. You will lose that fight every single time.
I would read the works of Martin Luther King if you haven't already.
Anger, if it is controlled (which is very hard to do, but it can be done), can be an enormous source of strength. It is often said that those who are virtuous fight with a "righteous ire".
Hatred can never be controlled. It is destructive, and corrosive. It destroys the body and poisons the mind, until you're a husk. I witnessed my own family tear itself apart over intergenerational trauma and stubbornness to forgive error. They let hatred destroy themselves, they no longer knew the reasons why they were fighting, only feeling bitterness from the previous generation.
If Project 2025 goes into action, it plans on eliminating welfare programs such as SSI/SSDI. This is a literal death sentence for myself and my husband. Hatred is a reasonable feeling to have for those who want us to die.
Besides, I didn't see anyone here actually planning on killing anyone or telling others to do so as well. Magic isn't real so wishing for something to happen doesn't make it happen lol.
"infusing Christian nationalism into every facet of government policy"
What... does that even mean? Maybe because I'm an atheist I have a bias.
Some are more hysterical than people have ever been, but politics remains as dirty and tedious as ever.
I don't get upset about things. I work to change them.
Name me an equivalent to the Fox news v dominion lawsuit, or January 6th, or the fake elector scheme, or how the republicans had no speaker of the house for 3 weeks (first time in U.S history that the majority party lost their speaker), or George Santos, or Trump still pretending he won 2020, or "They're eating the cats and dogs" (the police and mayor and multiple locals have said this isn't happening), or how many generals he worked with have called him a fascist now? But sure both sides are the same...
Well duh, there are a lot of reasons. Fine, I'll choose a better example.
There's a reason why MLK triumphed, while Malcolm X and Louis Farrakhan did not.
I cannot comprehend how a first-world country could possibly allow this to happen.
How much were we ever united?
And like hell I'll ever unite with hateful people, racists, homophobes, transphobes, misogynists, fascists, etc.
Of course we should continue to pursue happiness, for ourselves and others. Part of that should also be by pushing back against this, and at this moment we especially need to take care of each other.
Black Americans were NEVER fully liberated. Not once.
Women were never made fully equal.
Trans rights has still not ever been a true thing.
Where have we been united exactly?
And don't give me an argument saying a slice of bread is the whole sandwich, I'm sick of that shit.
No, we were not united at those times.
That's the guy these chucklefucks decided was their boy, and the only reason he was in a position to be on the ballot was the so-called opposition refusing to actually punish his crimes in hopes he'd just go away.
He spelled out all the shitty things he plans to do, his mental decline has been on full display... and he won not only the electoral, but the popular vote.
I don't get it.
Voter turnout was abysmal, and... to be honest I have no idea how it could've been improved with the whole media apparatus being arrayed against Democrats.
Republicans love to claim that there's bias against them, but (accurately) calling their guy a demented fascist absolutely pales in comparison with the total blackout present on every single victory that was passed by Biden during the last 4 years. They relentlessly picked on Biden for his gaffes, then immediately switched to tearing Harris to pieces while showcasing the insane ramblings on the other side as "quirky".
Then the fucking billionaires took the opportunity to sweep social media and push disinfo 24/7 to the masses.
This whole election was bought and paid by dipshits that wants the country to fall into corporatism and late stage capitalism, with only large companies still able to survive off devouring the rest from the ruins of an economic collapse.
There was also an awful lot of sanewashing.
And ain't capitalism grand?
The bittersweet relief I took from seeing the numbers is that it wasn't that we tried with all our might only to still fail.
The truth is that there just wasn't a good try at all.
It's clear people have become apathetic to the onset of fascism.
Are we already seeing the effects of our deteriorated schools?
Even in TX we were educated on the signs of fascism. It was drilled into our heads every year starting in 6th grade. It was a solemn and straightforward message from every single one of my social studies and language arts teachers, to never let it happen again.
But that was more than two decades ago for me. It seems the ball has been dropped since then. And sadly may even be a global problem from what I have heard.
Hillary got almost as many votes in 2016 as Obama did in 2012. Harris got 2M more votes than either of them did, with Trump getting the second-highest number of votes of any winner in presidential history. I don't think "turnout was terrible," though I suppose that turnout in the USA has never been "great."
Same, increasingly same.
What I don't understand is everyone kept saying it was a 'massive voter turnout' and now we're hearing...it wasn't? There were so many ballot boxes attacks, thousands of votes being contested for 'weird signatures' (electronic signatures NEVER look good) etc. it's just...so bleak.
I'm a disabled woman. Most of my family are women. I'm already being told on Twitter that 'men can do whatever they want to me' now.
Not to mention, whatever OUR country does emboldens OTHER countries. It's not just our country that's fucked, others are gonna follow suit. I hate it here.
Write to Biden. Make an investigation happen. There is no way they didn't cheat. Even if his win is legit... we have to try.
We're so fucked.
That's what my head keeps saying as well, yeah. Try your best to hold onto hope, any hope. All of us have to do our best to look out for one another, as much as humanly possible.
Instead it was those using his name that helped sweep our nation into this result.
Sounds an awful lot like the "America, love it or leave it" shit back in the sixties.
Fucker didn't even Denounce 2025, he just said "it's not my plan"
FOr gods sakes every single time the traitor spoke up, it was about how he should get revenge, or how people should treat him better, or some other selfish, egotistical bullcrap.
NEver about how he can ACTUALLY better the nation, never about what is ACTUALLY wrong. Just lies and fucking bullshit.
Actually he said that some of the stuff was fine, and some of the stuff he didn't like, while not really elaborating either way, letting useful idiots run with a "oh he denounced Project 2025" narrative.
He both-sides it to make it look like he isn't agreeing or disagreeing in order to avoid the negative repercusions of admitting his opinion.
I'm tired of people saying, "He denounced it! It's not his plan!"
We know that, numbnuts.
He's a moron; it's not his plan.
However, he will surround himself with equally, if not more, dangerous people in the government who will make that plan a reality.
Now we gotta deal with this shit for another 4 years. And if we don't fix it, it's game over.
We just have to ignore the fact that over 100 people that wrote it worked in Trump's Administration or as a part of his reelection campaign.
People have gotten so relaxed that they think it could never happen here because they've never seen it, but my great grandmother lived in Germany during WWII and she was terrified of Trump until her passing. 15M people just didn't bother to vote and that's how he won.
I know it's not much; I'm still mulling things over and ironing them out in my head.
I could afford to leave, but that's not in my nature.
Makes me wonder how you made it out alive during his last 4 years...
Also, did anybody else notice that the political candidates were being extremely aggressive with this year's election?
Like, seriously, my PO Box was getting spammed with propaganda ads every single week, and they incessantly called our home phone trying to get us to vote.
And what does this year's election or the propaganda have to do with this? That had nothing to do with the assassination attempts. Harris only even got into this recently.
At the end of the day, a presidential attacker's political agenda does not reflect the entirety of other citizens under the label said attacker claimed for themself. It's not as if a wing of Democrats signed on to hire some sort of hitman. That doesn't suddenly equate to, "We'll teach violent battle formations in schools!" That literally doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
He had also researched places where Biden was appearing, but it happened that Drumpf was appearing near where he lived. In any case, it's not as though either of them were sent by the Dems to assassinate Drumpf or anything like that. They were just wingnuts.
Though to everyone who's making journals and whatnot shouting about how much of a terrible man he is, I'm surprised to hear that he didn't just win the presidential vote. He won the popularity vote too. Which means that whatever Trump has been doing this season, has garnered him a great deal of support from the general public.
Trump looks to have gotten 2-3 million *fewer* projected votes than in 2020. He won because around 18M people didn't bother to vote. He won because of apathy or exhaustion, possibly in addition to voter suppression and intimidation tactics, not because there was big swell of support behind him.
We've survived before, we'll survive now.
I really hope it doesn't happen but if it does I don't know how there's any furry who can consciously be alright with that.
Quite the ambitious goals they've set there, haven't they?
And to make matters worse, once your brain recognizes the obvious tells, it becomes almost impossible to miss them. Every piece of AI generated music I've listened to all universally have this identical reverb effect going on with the vocals. It almost sounds like it's being sung by the same band every time. Not to mention that some times the AI doesn't seem to properly understand lyrical composition, and just throws words together. For example...
"So here's to fireball. The spell we all adore. In the hands of wizards, it's the ultimately war." - Like, what does that last line even mean!?
But it certainly doesn't surprise me with these hateful bigots
People thought Trump was going to destroy the country the first time he got elected, and that didn't happen.
And besides, this will be his second term. Meaning 4 years from now, we won't have to hear about it anymore.
((But seriously, don't touch my porn!))
And sure he didn't destroy the country the first time but he certainly didn't do it any good.
You're trying to say that everyone is overreacting, but the fact is that he was seriously limited by his administration being more sane than he is. His first week in office he tried to ban Muslims from entering the country and it took over a year of legal challenges to implement it, and this happened dozens of times. That's why hundreds of members of his administration and military leaders were vocal in not supporting him this election.
This time he has a packed supreme court that ruled he is essentially immune to prosecution, a majority in both the house and senate, and a much more willing administration around him that is open to his extreme views. Over 100 people that wrote Project 2025 will make up his incoming administration; it's not a joke. In all likelihood this will not be like last time.
Also, he has said MULTIPLE TIMES that if he's reelected there will be no more need to vote. He commented this repeatedly when running in 2020 too. Why do people assume everything will be just fine and as soon as his term is over it will go back to some semblance of normality again? This is the new normal.
As for people over reacting, keep in mind how much people were having a mental break down the first time Trump won. Then when Biden came along, the view shifted to claiming he was gonna hand the country over to our enemies and start WW3 or something.
Now Trump wins again, and the panic shifts back over to him.
This seems to happen every election season. One side wins, the other side throws a fit over it, and 4 years later, the cycle repeats itself.
There's only so many times you can hear each party try to slander each other, before it just becomes white noise.
Do I think everyone should be paranoid and panicked at all times? Obviously not. Should we use logical reasoning and try not to allow ourselves to be put into a dangerous situation like the one we're currently in? Yes.
I can't remember the last time either political candidate actually spoke about how they plan to make things better. It's all just a blur of memories where they spent years talking about nothing outside of how terrible the other side was.
As for rigging the election, keep in mind the last 3 elections we've had all universally had the losing party accusing the other of voter fraud, or rigging the system. After hearing it the fourth time in a row, it warrants an eye role.
Like, why are people taking anything Trump says seriously now? He said a lot of shit the first time he got elected, like how he was gonna build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. Or that he was gonna lock up Hillary, and I'm pretty sure a bunch of other stuff too. None of that came to pass.
Hillary and Kamala both conceded the next day. Trump still lies about winning 2020. 70% of republican voters still think 2020 was rigged. The closet equivalent on the left is Bush v Gore where the supreme court said Gore wasn't allowed a recount in florida (which if it recounted in his favor it would have flipped the election).
The US's political scene has become a complete joke in recent decades. Everybody's so obsessed with making the other side out to be the anti-Christ, that it's gone from being amusing, to depressing, to downright infuriating.
Like, these are people we elect to run our government, and they're acting like a bunch of spoiled, petulant children.
What the fuck happened to this country!?

Also, very funny people keep finding offensive or problematic quotes from Trump that they like to reference, while conveniently ignoring the constant stream of racist shit that was coming out of Biden's mouth during his time in office.
This is what our politics have been reduced to. When the opposite party does something bad, their opponent is the first to call for the torches and pitch forks. But when the opposite party does something good, it's time to break out the tinfoil hats and rant about conspiracy theories, and how it's all propaganda.
After finding out just how laughably pathetic Russia's military is, and how desperate they've gotten in the war against Ukraine, I am now thoroughly convinced that the allegations about them interfering with the American Election are complete bogus. These people are using technology that's been rendered obsolete for over half a century; no shot in hell they were able to crack into our voting systems.
Then why did he keep not answering weather or not he would veto a national abortion ban? Why did it take months before he finally answered?
"Also, very funny people keep finding offensive or problematic quotes from Trump that they like to reference, while conveniently ignoring the constant stream of racist shit that was coming out of Biden's mouth during his time in office." Then name me one, but let me guess first. The "you ain't black" thing? Where he was obviously pointing to Trump's history with black people (for example the central park 5 where he kept insisting they were guilty, most recently in 2019 where he refused to apologize with his excuse being their admission of guilt. This dispite the evidence pointing quite soundly to a completely different guy.) Biden then brings up his own record, specially being endorsed by the NAACP every single time he ran.
"This is what our politics have been reduced to. When the opposite party does something bad, their opponent is the first to call for the torches and pitch forks. But when the opposite party does something good, it's time to break out the tinfoil hats and rant about conspiracy theories, and how it's all propaganda." How can you seriously tell me that bringing up trump's record is a conspiracy theory?
"After finding out just how laughably pathetic Russia's military is, and how desperate they've gotten in the war against Ukraine, I am now thoroughly convinced that the allegations about them interfering with the American Election are complete bogus. These people are using technology that's been rendered obsolete for over half a century; no shot in hell they were able to crack into our voting systems." The claim was never that russia literally changed votes. They obviously didn't do that. Most voting machines aren't connected to the internet. The claim was always that russia pushed propaganda. Which they did. There's evidence of it in the Mueller Report: russia spent $100,000 on facebook ads, they had the TEN_GOP twitter account which claimed to be the official account for the Tennessee republican party, they hacked into multiple of Hillary's campaign employees and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic National Committee networks and leaked thousands of their documents/emails (remember, hacking is usually just tricking someone into giving you their login, it's scams that are made to look ligit).
What about when he was describing Obama and said this?
"He's polite, he's well spoken, he's clean... I mean, that's like something out of a story book, man!"
Or, how about when he was recounting a story about how black kids would come up to him in the pool and run their hands across the hair on his legs, and he finishes off the story with "and that's how I learned about cock roaches."
Also, Biden was caught lying about his own history multiple times during the course of his campaign. Anybody who went digging around in his personal history to verify his claims would constantly find out that none of the stuff he claimed to have done ever actually happened. He lied about his home town, lied about where he was educated, lied about his relationship with various people. He also couldn't seem to keep his story straight, and kept revising it; which you can see if you watch clips from multiple rallies and conferences back to back.
Then there's the fact he's a hypocrite, for trying to slander Trump's possession of having documents in his possession, when he is then caught doing the exact same thing, but worse.
Just to clarify the situation, during your time in office, all such documentations are considered to be your property to do with as you please. Trump had the full legal authority as president to declassify those documents, if he so desired. Not only did he do so, but he had them stashed away inside a locked safe, within his personal residence, that required a specialized team to break in and ransack the place to get their hands on them.
Biden, on the other hand, was found in possession of still classified documents, which he left inside an open box, inside his open garage, where anybody could have just walked in and snatched them.
We also had confirmed proof that Hillary did, in fact, invade America's right to privacy, and tried to cover it up by deleting her emails. You know, a crime that violates our constitution. But everybody's just kind of swept that under the rug now.
Claims about Trump being racist should also be taken with a grain of salt, since the far left seems to have gotten the impression that literally every president in history (save for Obama) has been a racist white guy.
Oh, wait, Trump just appointed a black guy to be head of the FBI... so I guess that, and the first woman Chief of Staff kind of shoots down those accusations.

Firstly, Trump didn't declassify those documents and he said as much himself when he was talking to those people at Mar-a-lago "See as president I could have declassified it. Now I can't, you know, but this is still a secret." no one denies this, not trump, not his lawyers, not any of the people he surrounds himself with, so why are you? Secondly, Trump was given a year to return those documents and when NARA finally sent someone to get them from him (this isn't the mar-a-lago raid yet, that comes later) he only gives 197 of the classified documents back. Then half a year later he gives back another 38 under subpoena. Then the FBI recovered 102 at mar-a-lago. Thirdly the documents weren't in a safe, they were in boxes. Boxes which were constantly being moved from room to room in mar-a-lago and bedminster (the place where that trump quote I typed out was said by the big man). Fourthly Biden reported his classified documents to NARA the same day he found them and they were picked up the next day. As for the FBI search of his 2 houses, they didn't need a warrant because Biden allowed them to do the searchs (one of which lasted 13 hours). Notice a difference between the two of them?
"We also had confirmed proof that Hillary did, in fact, invade America's right to privacy, and tried to cover it up by deleting her emails. You know, a crime that violates our constitution. But everybody's just kind of swept that under the rug now."
Funny thing is that Hillary cooperated with the investigation fully, unlike trump, and those deleted emails eventually turned up on Anthony Weiner's laptop. There's a reason no one brings up that last part (spoilers, It's because they aren't a big deal).
"Claims about Trump being racist should also be taken with a grain of salt, since the far left seems to have gotten the impression that literally every president in history (save for Obama) has been a racist white guy."
Do you really not remember the "Muslim Ban"? What about him insisting Barack Obama was born in Kenya, dispite the fact that his birth was reported in a newspaper in Hawaii? The obsessive harping on immigrants being criminals dispite them committing less crimes then native born US citizens? "They're eating the cats and dogs"?
"Oh, wait, Trump just appointed a black guy to be head of the FBI... so I guess that, and the first woman Chief of Staff kind of shoots down those accusations." Have you never heard of the term "one of the good ones"? You're gonna have to do better than one guy. Also I'm pretty sure women aren't a race.
When the enemy party says or does something bad, they take it as a gospel sign of just how vile and corrupt their party is. But when they do something good, it must be some kind of propaganda, meant to drum up support for the opposition.
Because, oh yes, "our party is absolutely infallible, and everything we do is perfect and righteous. While the other party is evil incarnate, and is objectively incapable of contributing anything valuable to society."
I'm sick of hearing about it. I just want the country to calm the fuck down and go back to something resembling a sense of normalcy.
If you want this country to go back to normalcy, voting in the most divisive politician in recent history was not the way to go.
Like, the American people don't seem to realize you're not required to vote for Democrat or Republican every single time. We have other options you can go with!
You still haven't responded to my examples so I'm going to assume you know you can't argue that point anymore.
Also, if I don't respond to your previous statements, it's either because I don't notice them (as you are repeatedly quoting my entire post back to me), or it's because I find your responses basically equate to 'He-Said-She-Said' arguments.
One side claiming it happened this way, the other side claiming it happened that way. I just don't have the energy for it anymore.
So I went back to read your post, and you said that Biden reported his missing documents the same day? Have you taken a moment to stop and ask yourself, how the hell they even got there to begin with? Because that sounds like a 'self report' to me. Very sus...
Biden's also claimed he had no knowledge of his son's illegal operations, when we have audio logs of his son openly stating he is sitting right next to his father as he tries to coerce money out of people over the phone. Then the guy gives his son a full pardon as he's on the way out of the office.
Biden supporters were defending a dementia patient. And yes, Biden HAS dementia. I just watched my grandmother slowly deteriorate from it in real time, just before she died. I know exactly what the symptoms look like, and believe me, Biden is showing them. And the fact that he seems to refuse attempts to give him a proper medical examination is only going to cause the problem to escalate further. The guy can't even walk himself to the podium anymore, without being escorted like a preschooler.
"as you are repeatedly quoting my entire post back to me" fair enough, I'll be more specific about quoting you so my comment isn't so needlessly repetitive. As for "'He-Said-She-Said' arguments." I'm sorry but when you're in a major leadership position your words matter. They can't just act like some gossipy teenager and expect nothing to come of it.
Also I looked back on all my replies to you and I didn't see a single "he said she said argument". My first reply I cited Hillary and Kamala conceding the day after their respective elections vs trump claiming voter fraud to this day. My second reply was about trump bragging and refusing to answer a question, then I linked to a sarcastic comment where I cited a lawsuit, a terrorist attack, a failed election rigging, a failure so extreme that it's the first time it ever happened in the country's history, a man who lied about every single part of himself to gain power and didn't get ousted for months because maga has no standards, trump's election fraud claims (again), trump talking about something that everyone who lives there says isn't real and (the only thing that can maybe be interpreted as "he said she said", but see the above paragraph) multiple generals who worked with trump calling him a fascist. My third reply was me repeating myself, me asking for examples (which you came through on), a rebuttal to an example I was expecting (the majority of which was an example to illustrate the point), asking you a question and explaining the real meaning of something you told me you didn't understand (again most of this was examples). My fourth reply was me telling you that trump himself admitted to something being true that you thought was false, giving a time-line, pointing out a difference between Biden and Tramp (again with examples), pointing out a difference between Hillary and Trump, mentioning some missing evidence turning up, 4 examples and a saying that I brought up to ask for you to come up with more then 1 guy. My fifth reply was just me being smarmy. Finally my sixth reply was me asking for an example and what technically counts as calling you out.
On how the documents got in Biden's homes and the Penn Biden Center: Documents get retroactively classified and declassified all the time. The government gets new information and updates it's belief on weather certain old documents should be classified or not. Makes sense no?
The Hunter Biden question: There's a reason his only charges are about the gun and tax evasion. Nothing about Burisma dispite everything the House republicans released.
Biden having dementia: Yes he probably does... and yet he's still better than trump. "Biden supporters" are very rarely actually that, they're usually just against trump and thus kind of have to "support" Biden. If you ask me, I would unironically vote for my dog over trump he's that bad, and he's the only one in politics I view that poorly. Why? January 6th, the fake elector scheme, refusal to accept that he lost in 2020, him claiming voter fraud in 2016 dispite him winning that election (he thinks the popular vote was rigged somehow), his constant lies (like how he tried to get rid of the ACA but now tries to take credit for preexisting conditions dispite them being there from the start), him pretending covid wasn't an issue for months after it was already in the country, "the media is the enemy of the people" (fascism 101), the fact that he looks up to dictators (vladimir putin, viktor orbán, kim jong un), wanting to get rid of birthright citizenship, alot of his nominations (kash patel, rfk jr, matt gaetz, steve miller, fucking dr oz?)
You basically told me that documents can be declassified and reclassified at the drop of a hat, based on the president's current mood at the time. Once the information is declassified and released into the public, you can't reclassify it again. The knowledge is out there in the open, and there's no way to put the genie back in the bottle!
I will admit I should've been more specific then just classified or declassified. There's more then just one type of classified and sometimes people work with classified information on a need to know basis. I didn't mean that fully declassified stuff can become classified again (though I imagine it technically could, it would just be pointless since everyone knows so why bother).
I guess he was just trying to get my attention?
As a matter of fact, one particularly moronic one did that to me just today. See my shouts. I posted my replies to him there because he was deleting my shouts to him.
see his recent journals for context. (Not the one currently featured) I first ran into him here:
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10997371
By the way, is there some reason you keep saying "Drumpf?"
This isn't Youtube; as far as I'm aware, they don't have bots going around deleting comments for mentioning specific key words.
Though if I'm wrong about that, please feel free to correct me.
It's actually his family name, going back a few generations to when they were in Germany.
I use that because I don't like giving him the respect of using his given name. That's the LEAST pejorative thing I call him.
His question was whether Drumpf said that "There were good people on both sides" in Charlottesville at the "Unite the Right" Rally, and whether any cops were killed at J6. He imagined that those were "Gotcha" questions. I've run into that same shit before. I answered correctly that he was documented as saying exactly that, and that one cop died as a result of injuries at J6. Of course he denied that, and then I provided proof.
The guy isn't exactly smart, and consistently ignores or denies facts when they're presented to him if they don't fit his preferred narrative. But you may already have noticed that.
He's a special kind of moron. Unfortunately, he's not the only one. I run into them all the time.
The reasons that I don't believe in blocking people are that I think it's cowardly, and that it fosters misunderstanding.
I have no idea why many people have blocked me. Some of those have been due to misunderstandings. Language, particularly via text, can be hard, and easy to misinterpret. I feel bad about the people who've misinterpreted something I said to them as an insult, but if they've blocked me I have no chance to explain myself. But the majority of them seem to be right wingers who don't want to have real discussions about things.
I don't insult people unless they insult me first, in which case the gloves are off. I can definitely dish it out if necessary, as well as take it. I've found that most people who insult me are nether very smart nor very good at it.
But that's just me. I have a thick skin, and I can handle, and even welcome well reasoned opposition. At worst it's a chance to sharpen my arguments, and I might even learn something. And I can handle insults. Everybody doesn't feel that way, and there are valid reasons to block people. That's fine for them.
There also seem to be an awful lot of people here with exceptionally thin skins, and/or really itchy block fingers.
I also believe that hate speech is not the same thing as free speech, and that harassment is not okay anywhere.
Sites like FA are also private sites, and they have a right to set the rules for the site. I don't have to like all of the rules, but I understand why they set them.
An awful lot of people don't understand that free speech only applies to the government censoring speech in public. It doesn't extend to the private sphere.
I also don't believe that the results of this election had anything to do with this, at least as far as I can see. People definitely have a problem with not really listening to each other, though. That's a large contributor to the division here, but hardly the only one.
Yes, I've thought a lot about this stuff.
I think the reason why you and I have been blocked by random people, who neither know us, and we don't know them, is because of cancel culture. BantamCrow has been claimed as its latest victim, it would seem. Often I go on social media and there's always someone who says something daft like "thanks for helping me weeding out the follower's I don't like!".
Yeah I agree its cowardly, but it's also pointless. People block individuals, but people boycott corporations. Now, I can boycott Walmart tomorrow over the abhorrent way they treated me during Covid and humiliating my mother trying to sort out click-and-collect, I can refuse to ever enter their stores again... but it doesn't solve the problem of them providing that terrible customer service. Only discussions, complaints, and feedback with enough traction and momentum, can get them to change the error of their ways and issue an apology.
I think another reason people are trigger happy to block, is not just down to immaturity, but maybe limitation of the site itself? I remember there would some sites where you could "ignore" someone, rather than outright block them. This was handy if the user didn't do anything to break the rules, or was rude to you, or whatever, but you simply weren't interested in their content or journals - getting updates from them was a waste of time.
Blocking should only be enforced as a final measure, because one step above that is reporting them to the moderators. So Blocking would be appropriate if someone is spamming you non-stop with stupid "Hi!/How are you?" messages with zero context or content.
Blocking someone because they don't agree with you 100% of the time over 100% of the events at any time, is silly.
I don't think that boycotting something is very comparable to blocking.
Boycotting things is completely valid, but if you actually want to do something about a problem, people need to understand why, as you said. That's also how you get support for a boycott that might actually achieve something. A one person boycott isn't much of a boycott. It's just one person putting their money where their mouth is, which is fine as well. I do thi with a number of things because I don't think a boycott would likely be observed by enough people to make any real difference. I do this with things like corporate social media and Amazon, which I don't want to support.
If you don't like someone's content you don't have to follow them, or you can ignore them. that's easy.
There are a LOT of features that FA could or should have, but the main issue there is that this place is built on such ancient and creaky code that it's really time consuming and/or expensive to make significant changes here.
Spam is also against the COC, so you can file a ticket on that.
It is crushing me and I hope there are still ways to stop some of the things he said he'll do. Especially the no voting anymore claim.
And I really hope he only did it for himself and gives a shit about doing what he said.
The biggest mind fuck is not knowing what will actually happen for real. That is making me crazy not knowing.
I have some friends over there who could not survive without health care, I am scared for them. Not only for them. Well you know well enough what might happen.
I feel helpless.
people want a stable economy and things were moer stable with trump around. don't agree with that statement at all but that is probably the dominant mindset, not bigotry.
most people dont' give a shit about all that honestly
Don't give me that bullshit about peace and prosperity. It's just a fig leaf for bigotry. People may have the memories of goldfish, but they aren't orange cats, either. They fucking well know what 2020 was like and peace and prosperity had nothing to do with it.
... or, you know. It was the bigotry.
but if people are willing to throw minorities under the bus just to pay $1 less for a loaf of bread i question their morals and i do not think they're good people
and don't tell me it's just because parents want control of what their kids see... it's not that simple. parents want that because they're ignorant and bigoted, and they are afraid of their kids being "corrupted"
this is also why porn will be under attack by those following the project 2025 bullshit. it's got nothing to do with regular porn, but it's another way to attack LGBTQ rights. because they think that stuff being present in media IS porn.
They made their bed very deliberately and they can now get fucked in it.
There is no point in caring about them any more.
Trust me, the moment I woke, I checked CNN and saw the news. My mind went into overdrive, and shot my mood all to hell. Even the job couldn't completely lift my mood all day.
Damnit...but if I hear that his fantatics start roujnding up the LGBT community, I'm moving to Canada ASAP.
this whole thing is fucking ludacrious, both sides thinking the other is gonna destroy everything and everyone. if shit was THAT unstable then we'd be in an acutal, outright, civil war right now.
reaspon peeps voted for trump is cause he was actaully talking about economics and shit and not identity shit. right now people wanna have stability. ain't no hate here and trump does not have the desire or power to do some evil dictator shit. even if he dwant it, he couldn't, cause there is enough checks and balances to keep that idiocy chained.
its not a simple solution sadly. a lot of them are honestly actually just desperate depserate people, but we can't have a lot of people just coming in willy nilly. ain't evne ab out saying 'oh they dangerous' its cause you can't have a lot of people coming in at once like that, has to be a transitioning period.
thing is both sides try to simplify it, either demonizing or angelifying them. the entier situation is a slate of gray, not black or white.
the checks and balances are no longer there since the supreme court is in his pocket. they have the senate, the house, and the white house. it will still take time, but they have that too, now. it's going to get pretty bad
yall put your heads into eco chambers.
If he claims to do something in his official duties, it's legal. No ifs, and, or buts. So, if he orders the assassination of Bernie Sanders, and it's carried out?
Perfectly legal, so long as he says it's an official act.
Gotta love the corrupt court doing that for Donny, just to delay his trials and give him a fighting chance.
I'm lucky, I'm trans but I'm white. I'm scared AF for anyone who is non white or basically any minority. I cried literally at work earlier, and I'm currently just trying to avoid breaking down and freaking the fuck out
Wife is a (legal) immigrant but also trans. I'm going to update my passport ASAP before any policy changes go through
And just hope we can maybe move the fuck out or in the very least move to a liberal state.
I honestly think , the people who made this happen, they must truly want to go back to the 1950s and it's so fucked
This is going to be a very deadly and very sad catastrophe.
Personally I think the USA experiment is a lost cause, and not worth emotional investment anymore.
I'd focus on rebuilding local community and self reliance.
Help is not coming.
A woman is stranded on an island after surviving a plane crash. She is pregnant because she had consensual sex with someone without protection and was completely aware of the risks. She did not want a child but thought the risks were low and with her full self-determinate autonomy still made the choice to consent to the sex that resulted in this pregnancy. Now that she is alone and where there are zero facilities or other persons available to perform abortion service, she cannot have an abortion. She now has an unwanted pregnancy where there is no foreseeable alternative than it going full to term and then birth. Were here rights violated? By who? Was she -forced- to continue this pregnancy? By who?
1. No rights being violated; unless you look into what caused the plane crash, she would probably be due a fuck load of money.
2. Plane company if you answer 'yes' to 1.
3. Yes, because there was no one there she could go to to have the abortion. Refer to answer 2.
My point is in the use of terminology like unalienable human rights, which the logic therein breaks down when it becomes dependent on others to provide or uphold the right. Like a right to food, for example; we can explore that. If you're not capable of producing food, but have a right to it, then others are compelled by obligation to provide the food for you. I think that would be better worded or phrased as an entitlement to have others hand you food. If you starve, that would be the result of others' failure to upkeep what you are entitled to, not because people are doing an action that violates your rights. They're not going out of their way to steal your food, which is already against most laws that protect individuals' rights to property.
Back to abortion, I don't want to get into the sub-topic of exceptions rape, incest, accidents, inadequacies of contraceptives, etc because I'm actually likely to agree with the reasoning that there is a very high likelihood of bad outcomes should that kind of unwanted pregnancy come to term, and that the woman was presumably taking responsible care to avoid the situation she's in. No, the vast majority of the so-called 'reproductive rights' argument is about a woman's entitlement to have facilities and persons available to clean up the mess she consented to by the expected or probable result of allowing recreational and consensual and totally avoidable unprotected sex. I haven't actually revealed my exact own personal stance on where I think legalities should lie, but calling this a 'right' lacks logic and does a disservice to the discussion because it leads to hyperbolic, unilateral or faith-based stances. I believe that to understand the pushback, consider that most people want to help, want to support with other persons' mistakes, messes, problems, but are very much against being forced to help or forced to support. Then it is no longer a charity but a burden which changes the enthusiasm. When you start taxing to fund a service, people are now being forced to pay for others' costly mistakes without any way to decline, a concern exacerbated by the situations being avoidable, 100%, though abstinence. Now, whether or not clinics are legally allowed to offer the service, that is a topic at hand absolutely, but I don't think it was ever a right and so I don't see it possible in this case that said right is being taken away.
Just because a woman lays down and consents sex with a man, does not mean she consents to having an embryo growing inside of her for 9 months.
You used specific words as in "clean up her mess she consented to" which really tells how you feel about this situation.
Until you go through with carrying life inside of you, then you can comment on having the right to choose. But until then, you should keep your wack hypotheticals to yourself.
Really weird way around saying you don't think a woman should have rights to her own body.
"Just because a woman lays down and consents sex with a man, does not mean she consents to having an embryo growing inside of her for 9 months. "
Did she not understand the risks and choose her actions anyway? Do you think women don't understand what they are doing? If she was not aware that she'd be getting pregnant, then some kind of deception or other consent-mitigating circumstance must have applied. She has every means available at her disposal as a free-thinking autonomous individual to make her own choices to avoid a pregnancy because she is rightfully free and no-one (without crime) is forcing her pregnant. If she gets accidentally pregnant from being reckless and irresponsible, ie consenting to sex with man but not wanting an embryo, that's just idiotic behavior, which she is free to do! She can put herself in that situation all she wants, but I'm positing that it's not her right to then come demanding other people help her fix it.
And, giant sigh you think you know how I would set policy if I were in charge, but you are off the mark I'm afraid.
"The only line I draw is that I don't think (in vast majority of cases realistically) it should be others' responsibility forced by tax to pay for the expenses of others' reckless costly and avoidable behavior. The woman's options should include non-profits, charities, etc who wish to help people in their situations but never compelled by the federal or state government to be taken out of the incomes of those of us not making irresponsible choices at threat of going in bad standing with the IRS which is a road that continually followed concludes with government arms trained on you."
Are you aware of the Hyde amendment? In case you hadn't, since it was very clear you weren't: https://www.kff.org/womens-health-p.....-post-roe-era/
To quote "Today, 35% (5.5 million) of women ages 15 to 49 covered by Medicaid live in states where abortion remains legal, but the program will not cover the service except for limited Hyde circumstances. Twenty-one percent live in a state where abortion is banned." And also; "Starting in 1977, the Hyde Amendment has banned the use of any federal funds for abortion, only allowing exceptions to pay for terminating pregnancies that endanger the life of the woman, or that result from rape or incest."
You are either for a woman's right to choose, or you are against. You don't get to pick and choose how she gets to make her choice. Or what circumstances she was put in to make that choice.
This is hypocrisy on the part of the lawmakers, who absolutely do not believe in their protestations of personhood—otherwise they would grant official legal recognition to fetuses as citizens on the day of conception, including allowing them to be declared as dependents and being given social security numbers. They are not even legally recognized enough as persons to use a carpool lane.
All the previous times there was something that made sense but to double down on someone this wretched?
It was actually baffling when I saw him take the lead and it gets more baffling as the days go by.
It's just scary and sad that people actually want that.
All the assholes who mocked us, and attacked us, saying it would never be a thing... Your porn is on the line. I hope the leopards enjoy your delicious face, because it's getting eaten. Fools... This is why I pity you people...
Although they probably won't care about this either, they obviously already drank the kool-aid
Also for a bunch of them stating they want freedom of speech, avoiding being blocked/banned/etc... Trump said he would start tearing down any news network that didn't cover him in the best light, including ABC, CNN, NBC, and CBS... Aka... ACTUAL oppression and repressing freedom of speech and freedom of press... HE SAID THIS. OPENLY. ON LIVE TELEVISION. And they just nod because it's the case of 'rules for thee, not me!' in full force... They never cared about freedoms... They only cared about their privilege and right against the consequences of their hatred, bigotry, and harassment...
Anyways, I'm so sorry this is still happening, that we let this happen again. It's so stupid though, not just awful, but dumb enough that for once I kind of feel like I understand the people who say it's funny, a little, of course I'm too sad to laugh. Your journals both felt awesome to read, you are beautiful and brave.
I am scared.
I'm terrified as well.

You, like a majority of furries, are the result of thorough conditioning by a very powerful media machine that profits immensely from precisely this sort of vitriolic "us vs them" rhetoric.
You have a lot of growing up to do, I hope you get the help you clearly need..
if you don't understand why people like me are REALLY upset, disappointed, scared, and angry, then you have a serious lack of empathy
You don't get to blame "the media" for these affected people being mad about the outcome and at those that caused it. You don't get to stereotype furries as the ignorant ones while you stand there displaying your own. Only one side has been actively hostile towards the other for decades/centuries (to the point of literal death) and it's not the side furries usually align with.
You hold one group to a much higher standard than you hold yourself and your peers to and I've heard almost this exact line of broken "reasoning" you use to excuse it several times before. You didn't come to this conclusion yourself, you just heard it somewhere and repeat it and think everyone else is being ignorant, or you're just a troll. You have a lot of growing up to do. I'm not mad, just disappointed.
Try well over 1/2 of the U.S.A. Voted for him.
This should say something,… anything to you?
Your whole post echos the media you’re claiming aren’t responsible.
At least you’re not extreme, calling for killing others….
Because that is happening in this thread and is frightening.
About half of the voters in the 2024 election voted conservative, yes, but conservative members only make up 34% of the US voter base and conservative members are historically heavy voters. Around 15M fewer voters voted in 2024 than voted in 2020 and around 85% of those went Democratic in 2020, indicating a significant amount of apathy which shouldn't be assigned as supporting the conservative party.
My post lists a few facts, that you apparently disagree with, but mostly refutes statements made that are just false. I follow very few news sources besides AP Media and Reuters. If you want to address any singular thing I said rather than hand wave the whole thing away, feel free and I will address it directly.
You call a few people extremists for making comments in this thread in a corner of the internet making comments about death, but you defend a guy that in international media:
- bragged that he could kill someone in public and not lose a follower
- directly stated that government representatives should have guns trained on them
- said school shootings exist and people should get over them
- wants to expand the death penalty to include many more crimes, some vague
- said that he would use the military to fight "far left lunatics" that he then described multiple members of congress, and the President and Vice President, and LGBTQ members and defenders as...
I guess that makes Trump the much more extreme one, and that should be frightening? This should say something... anything to you?
I follow you because I admire your art, not your gender identity or sexual preference.
The only ones espousing violence, division, and hatred seem to be the extreme left.
So settle down sugar tits, you all survived his first term, you’ll make it through his second term as well!
And maybe, just maybe actually be SAFER and BETTER OFF in your safe spaces to boot!
If you really REALLY want to make a change,…. Move to Canada, or here’s a thought, Iran! See how much you like Trump then.
Flame suit on.
If you think the furry community is not under threat you're an idiot and you don't deserve the things that we create, frankly.
While ecmjaor and I will not agree on the reasons why Kamala failed to win the hearts of the nation, or what the plan is going forward for 2028, they have shown great maturity to let everyone get what they're feeling off their chests.
This is their journal, ec can do whatever the hell they like here.
as some have stated here, my angry ranting is not the best way of handling things, but it comes from a place of powerlessness, frustration, and worry... and i know a lot of people can empathize. but people like Zerrinth here with their "i'm just here for the porn so shut up with your worthless opinions and get creating!" attitude really aren't helping either. just shows how little they care about anything outside of their own most basic needs
I know that it's not looking good right now, but I do hope that we can flip some seats blue in the midterms and get some progress in the right direction.
until they do first. But we can't wait and be quiet for another two or four years, we need to improve things on a local level, we need to group, we need to unionize, we need to take direct action.
