Commissions & Life Update
Hey all - I feel a bit bad for not being as social as I used to be, but it's been a rough year and, well, you know how it is, I'm sure :V
About a year ago now, my husband was admitted to the emergency room in need of spinal surgery. Most of December was spent in the hospital - it actually wasn't too bad, all things considered - we even had a lovely little pizza party and watched movies together in his hospital room, and making the best of the situation didn't feel too hard at all (for me, at least).
Fast-forward several months of it, however, and it all started to add up. By mid-late summer, however, my husband was securely on the mend at last and able to get around and return to mostly-regular life, so that was great, but by then I was suffering burnout on a number of levels. Friends from the UK came to stay with us for a couple weeks which was wonderful, but had the side effect of bringing COVID with them - we'd avoided COVID all through the pandemic, only to finally catch it now! We actually hadn't even realised we had it, it was so minor - nothing more than a mild combination of headcold + stomach flu, it seemed... but then it never went away. For months. In fact, we still have it - long COVID! @_@ Again, it's not particularly bad, but god is it exhausting to feel perpetually under the weather...
Still, I think we've been fortunate this year in a number of ways. We didn't have to wait too long before my husband could have his back surgery. There were no complications. Our quality of life has been pretty decent! But between burn out and the rise of AI (which I do think has had an effect in the world of art commissions), I haven't been able to carry as much of the financial burden as I normally have, which brings me to the obligatory self-marketing...
Please consider the homemade bespoke gift of art for yourself and loved ones, from myself or any of the other wonderfully talented people here <3 While I have a small but much-appreciated number of loyal repeat clients, I could definitely use more work 🙏🏻❤️ Thank you so much for your consideration! ❤️🙏🏻

Re: long Covid - yeah, I wouldn't describe it as debilitating in and of itself, and I know we're lucky. I imagine being fully vaccinated really helped - as I said, we hadn't even realised we'd GOTTEN Covid at all! It was like, "Ugh... what's with this weird headcold/stomach flu that isn't going away...?" But as the symptoms continued for months, it's like... oh :b Long Covid :b
We've tried not to hold it against our UK friend who infected us, but we ARE a little miffed XD Normally we wouldn't blame anyone for getting us sick, it's not something done on purpose of course, but THIS guy in particular has been so careless, he's gotten Covid like 5 times already! C'mon man! Really?? XD
Re: art - exciting! Of course no obligation, but any support would be super-appreciated <333 Even just the consideration is nice to hear about :)
I was... well, lucky in the sense I didn't get long covid, but, it caused a whole other issue that was a little shocking (perhaps something I'll explain more in email). It's no fun when something turns into something else a lot bigger, that's for sure.
Ughf... yeah, there are just some people that don't care; and for whatever reason, it seems like they're always the ones that get it, get over it, and figure "Eh, no big deal", without realizing it may not be that way for everyone else.
And yes, shall drop you an email with info! Sorry for the delay - 'tis a busy time of year, had a rough on-call week, and also had to get details with a friend. XD
Speaking of that long Covid, it's back with a vengeance right now @_@ We both ended up staying in bed and taking the day off today - it feels like we're hung over or have the flu x_x
Absolutely - no worries at all on the delays! I rather expect them in December :b
Awwww jeez, that's not fun. :( That sorta "meh" feeling makes it hard to wanna do anything. I hope that passes for you both.
*swift hug and then leaves*
But I'm glad to hear your husband is on the mend and that things are looking up. I wish I could do more, but hopes and prayers for you both.
I remember i was like that for a month before the lock down started. I hated every day as I was so congested. But I'm surprised it has continued on for this long for you :o
My hair showing up places is kind of an on-going joke amongst friends. Like, "opened my microwave today and found Jen hair" or "why did I keep finding your hair in my butt, Jen?"
Listen, judging by how you designed Pet, I'm not surprised your hair is finding it's way into people's butts and microwaves LOL. Everyone always has a little piece of you not too far away~ XD
No one suspect the "my hair is sentient and could probably serve as a spy or assassin" superhero power :b Just quietly gathers in the corner and under couches until IT'S TOO LATE
LOL, your hair is like a Venom X,D. It gathers and gathers itself until it assemble into a huge mass and then climbs on people's heads and butts XDDD
That or your hair act like a sensory organ allowing you to see abd feel ALL XD
Are you familiar with Skullgirls? Filia always made us think of me 'cause of her sentient hair monster lol.
if im lucky, ill be giving you a knock soonish, so keep your eyes peeled!
Cheers <3
