Do you watch documentaries for fun?

“You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” ~Ray Bradbury
To be honest, I don't usually binge watch sitcoms or TV shows unless they have a premise that really grips my attention, especially if it's on a platform like Netflix, Max, etc. I actually like to binge watch documentaries sometimes, especially if they're really informative or give details about something I didn't know about. The latest documentary I watched was "Waco: American Apocalypse", which detailed the horrific Waco siege and gave interviews to not just law enforcement, but reporters and even members of the cult who witnessed the chaos unfold. Simply put, the footage and interviews were so heartbreaking to see but really showcases just how much a police standoff can go terribly wrong when it's influenced by politics, ego, and keeping up appearances. I don't just like to watch depressing docs though. I'm fond of history and contemporary topics. Stuff that's come to mind include documentaries like "Road to Eldorado", "Fear City", "Spycraft", "Trainwreck: Woodstock 99", "Fyre Festival", and "Madoff: The Monster of Wall Street".
How about you? Do you like to watch documentaries. What have you watched recently, and which ones do you recommend?

I think some of them sound interesting, but I don't really watch any. Unless you count the Cunk specials on Netflix or Defunctland on YouTube.

Well theres a history doc series called "hidden killers of the (insert time period) home." Its about serious problems with old house designs. For instance, apparently Victorian age staircases where badly built and very many people where injured or killed just by walking up and down stairs!

Those are really good!

I prefer good documentary to 90% half assed cash grab corporate slop that folks watch these days.

They're much more entertaining than sitcom schlock, yeah.

I literally just wrapped up watching Swegle Studios' video on the origin of the tornado featured on the poster for Twister, haha! But yeah, ocean liners, disasters, or anything with Lucy Worsley or Mary Beard presenting is my kind of thing.

Yes, but only on YouTube. It's not a matter of preference so much as it is a matter of convenience. Also, I recommend the YouTuber Kraut who does videos about geopolitics and history.
