Post-Con Depression

“You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” ~Ray Bradbury
It's been a few days since I returned home to Wisconsin after going to Anthrocon 2025 in Pittsburgh. I met so many people, reunited with many friends, colleagues, other furries I know, and created so many memories. Even so, once I returned home after hours spent waiting in layover and navigating airports, I walked into my apartment with a sense of accomplishment...as well as bittersweet sadness. It's a feeling that often accompanies us as we return from furry conventions and get back into the groove of things back home, especially with our day jobs. Thankfully, I still had several days of annual leave between my flight home and my first day back at work. I can't say I'm 100% over my post-con depression, but I can say that I've improved since my first night, where I spent most of the day in a funk and watch too much YouTube. It just helps to keep connected with friends, family, and loved ones, even after it feels like life is suddenly rushing down on you after vacation is over.
If you've also dealt with post-con depression, it's okay to feel that way. It's okay to feel sad that a furry con is over. There's always next year, or even the next con, and even local things to do with furries you know. With that said, I'm gonna make the most of this remaining summer and get to writing. <3
