So ominous!
TL;DR My next commission opening will be August 12th, 2025 I'm going to try to keep commissions to opening every two weeks moving forward (unless I have a holiday to work around), and prices are changing.
I've updated my prices as of now, which you can see on my website through the regular link: vallhound.com/prices.html
Major changes include:
-Returning to openings every 2 weeks at the same time every second Tuesday (US Central)
-Sketches of all kinds are more expensive
-Full colors of all kinds are more expensive
-Comic pages are now Offer/Bid only, meaning you'll have to make me an offer that I want to take for your concept, within or exceeding the margins I've listed on my website.
-Telegram stickers are a tiny bit more expensive, but also have listed options for getting print resolution files and making them twitch emotes.
-All additional costs, including a disclaimer about the cost of additional rights are listed at the top of the page.
-There is now a whole gallery of examples on the price page!
-Any amount of characters over 3 (4+ characters) are now a special quoting process outside of using the Large Groups option for sketches specifically, which have a listed prices of $100 per character +$100 for the background.
Things not changing:
-Refsheet prices stay the same
-Logo prices stay the same
-Percentage increases based on content requests stay the same
Reasons for prices changing:
-Cost of living increase
-Improvement over the years
-Consistent turnaround (which isn't new, but a feature nonetheless)
I think the last thing I likely updated was the price of Refsheets some years ago now, and maybe a smaller increase on Colored sketches. Now that I feel the quality of sketches has exceeded the amount of time I'm currently spending on them, it's time to update the prices of those items to reflect that. Full colors also see a price increase, as I want to spend more time on the work that is more expensive, and that means sometimes scheduling two days of work rather than one. Stickers see a price increase to accommodate print resolution files, which I think everyone would probably like but not everyone can afford, so the print resolution files are an additional fee.
Comic pages are the largest change, and I'm choosing to try something different with these because although I LOVE drawing so many expressions and get to see characters interact in a way that a static picture can't provide, they are often challenging projects and require 2-3 days of work to accomplish reasonably. The TIME is the difficult component to plan around for these projects, as it negatively effects how many customers I can take at a regular opening. These last few months of very long wait times are in part a result of wanting very much to take comic projects and also not wanting to say no to regular customers with smaller projects. I feel that the Offer/Bid concept will help slow the traffic down to a reasonable amount, and due to the nature of private conversation allows me to "put a pin" in the most time consuming projects to make space for everyone else without having to deny comic customers due to time constraints and forcing them to give up after 1-2 commission openings.
I'll be updating my commission form to follow suit to the price change to give me some time to solve any mistakes I may have made when doing math.
My next commission opening will be August 12th, 2025
