Prepare yourselves >:]c

First journal entry! (woohoo).
This was gonna be in the description of one of my uploads but I thought it would fit better as a journal instead. As you can probably tell from my infrequent uploading I got hit pretty hard with art block around the end of art fight (so like a month ago at this point). I'm talking really bad art block, like the type where you want to draw but all the confidence and creativity drains from you the moment you pick up a pen. Anyways, I think I've finally sniffed out what's causing it...
It's perfectionism.
I got so scared of posting stuff online that wasn't "perfect" in my eyes that it ended up making me dread drawing anything at all and anything that I managed to draw would be "sanitized" (basically I would redraw it over and over again until it was "perfect" when in actuality all I did was remove all the emotion and things that made it fun)
So my genius solution to this problem is to post stuff I don't like on purpose to desensitize myself (Starting with that badly drawn art fight comic )
So basically what I'm saying is prepare yourselves for some real pieces o' shit >:]
Also, if you guys have any suggestions for what you want to see me draw, I'd be happy to hear it! (I need to start interacting with people more anyway) :3

What I can say, which you probably already know, is that nobody is thinking an eighth as hard about those imperfections as you are. Knowing this information won't stop the behavior of course but it does provide some important context for reminding yourself what specifically you're fretting over. More than anything, mistakes mostly bother you, and you'll be bothered whether or not you post it, so you might as well post it and see what happens. Because the fact is, the rule of art is that whatever half-assed thing you honked out in 40 minutes is what everyone will turn out to love and a passion project you've been planning for months or even years will enjoy modest golf applause while they eagerly await more of the first, stupid thing.
So, it's such an unknowable metric, that is, what they'll think is good or bad, that you can't possibly prepare for it. You're better off just throwing as much out there as possible. You'll occasionally look back in a year or so and be horrified you ever shared it but the thing is, that feeling never goes away no matter how much better you get, so there's no use trying to avoid it.
And also, your art seems pretty solid, to me.
Also, thank you for the compliment! I really like your art style too! (especially the way you draw rats) :3
