Top 10 Favorite games of all time!
If yer a gamer then you most likely have a similar list, this is my top 10 list of video games spanning all consoles, genres, and countries. when yer done reading, post your own into your journal!
1) Mezase Senkyuoh *US name: Battle Balls* (Arcade, PS1)
The most addictive puzzle game I've ever played in my life, I've been known to spend hours upon hours just mindlessly playing this forgotten gem which, IMO, overshadows all other puzzle games. The object is to match colored balls descending from the top of the screen, stacked in 3 like a triangle. Match 4 colors the balls disappear and the stacked balls on top roll down, creating combos. just addictively brilliant.
2) Below The Root (Commodore 64/Amiga)
Based of Zilpha Keatley Snyder's Green-Sky trilogy of Books: "Below The Root", "And all Between", and "Until the Celebration" This game serves as an interactive 4th novel to clear up the conclusion of the series, which fans were gravely disappointed with. This is a simple side scrolling game, which was also one of the first RPGs to emerge. Playing as one of several characters you travel the vast world of Green-Sky to discover what really happened to the chosen one, Rammo. surprisingly deep, this game kept me occupied in my youth for hours upon hours, and I still enjoy it to this day.
3) Mother 2 *US name "Earthbound" (Snes, Super Famicon)
One of the best and most unusual games to have ever been released, Earthbound, is a Final Fantasy style RPG which was set in modern times. Known for it's vast array of memorable characters, razor-sharp wit, and just plain wackyness, this game has earned one of the hugest cult followings in gaming history.
4) The Addams family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt (Snes)
Most people raise eyebrows when I mention this in my top 10, but this largely forgotten gem of a game is easily one of my most beloved, if not my most beloved on the Snes. It follows the Animated Addams Family Series in which Wednesday has hidden and stolen some of Pugsley's favorite things and hidden then in the Addams' mansion. Very difficult, unbelievably beautiful graphics *for it's time* with multi-layered backgrounds, a fun soundtrack, and based off the original Snes Addams Family game. This game easily has earned a spot in my heart and my list.
5) Food Fight *aka: Charlie Chuck's Food Fight* (Arcade, Atari 7800)
Plays like Robotron, smooth fun controls, cheerful mess-hall music, the ability to smack Chefs in the face with GIANT PARSLEY, all while trying to get to your melting ice cream cone; this simple yet strangely addictive title has always held a soft spot in my heart. unfortunately there have been no modern compilation releases of this game *the 7800 version sucked* and the Arcade machine itself is insanely rare to find. I personally haven't played this game in over 25 years.
6) Team Fortress 2 (PC, Xbox 360)
A class-based first person shooter made by Valve, this stunning and incredible game won me over instantly, with it's incredible characters, great classes and class-based weapons, unbelievable depth and home to such classic lines as "May I borrow your earpiece? This is Scout! Rainbows make me cry!" this amazing shooter has no equal in my opinion. course I mean the PC version, the xbox 360 version was never updated byCValve and is missing all the the updates, content, achievements and can go suck a nut. though I wish that wasn't the case.
7) Mother 3 (Gameboy Advance) *Japan Only*
The sequel to the hugely popular Earthbound, Mother 3 was often teased, yet never released outside of Japan. although a group of fans selflessly used their own time to translate the game fully and make it available for it's fans to play and enjoy. for that I thank you. Not a direct plot-wise sequel to Earthbound, Mother 3 had the same sharp sense of humor, and memorable characters as it's predecessor, however, Mother 3 was deeply message filled, revolving around: society, family, love, greed, and tragedy. For all intensive purposes Mother 3 was a very sad and emotional tragedy, which, in my opinion, is one of the reasons it was never released here. I cried at the end of this game, it was *that* sad. I really wish more people would have a chance to play this game, I think it needs to be played and understood. and you'll get to learn who Lucas is From Smash Bros Brawl.
8) Tail Concerto (PS1)
The only "furry" game in my list, Tail Concerto is a wonderfully fun action platformer that was sadly ignored in it's US release. The game follows the tale of Canine police officer "Waffle Ryebread" as he does battle with the Evil Black Cats Syndicate. Fun characters, the compelling world of Prairie, great controls and beautiful music *though the Japanese release had better music in which the opening song "Little tail" was removed from the US version* this game easily earned it's spot in my top 10. A sequal is in development right now under the name "Solarobo" for the Nintendo DS. with any luck it'll hit US shores. *crosses fingers*
9) Mega Man Legends 2 (PS1)
A Sequel to the brilliant Mega Man Legends 1, MML2 continues the quest of Megaman Volnutt as he searches for the legendary Motherload, all while continuously trying to stop the Bonne Family and their...freakin adorible servbots! Damnation I *LOVE* the Servbots!!!! A spinoff of the Mega Man series, Legends is a 3rd person style platformer/shooter, which has gained immense popularity as years went by. Whether it was because of the beloved characters like Tron Bonne and her Servbots, the RPG-ish elements, or the fact that the game just played so well, this game has earned a cult following, and is finally getting it's 3rd game on the Nintendo 3DS.
10) World of Warcraft (PC)
Yeah, an MMO made it here, the most successful MMO in history, World of Warcraft draws in tens of thousands of players to immerse themselves in the vast world of Azeroth, whether playing as the Horde or the Alliance, players find a beautiful lore-filled world at their disposal, whether questing solo, joining up with other players for raids, and dungeons all in the pursuit of "Phat Lewtz" or kicking the snot out of other players in PVP, WoW has earned it's spot in my list. I play this game mostly for raiding in large groups with my friends and other furries. BTW: FOR THE HORDE!!!!
This list was not made or intended to show superiority over another's list or any other games, nor is it intended to be fanboyish. Most, if not all, of these games have very happy and emotional memories attached to them.
Now, you gamers out there, make your own list and post it in your journal ^.^
