My original species: Lyalurus oervis (common name Pictyral)

I did it! Finally, I got my shit together and sat down with a big ass book of animal species and went through picking out the traits I wanted my new species to have and started sketching out what I was thinking last night, well I finally finished the first male/female prototypes...
They species nickname is Pictyral, the official name is Lyalurus oervis
They are a mash up of African Wild Dog, Serval, Bush Pig/Red River Hog, Anatolian Sheep, and some random long hair thrown in for good measure (sprinkle of imagination dust? whatever.)
They are not magical in any way, but they are incredibly strong and athletic. Overall they have a long slim build with males being more muscular than females, hands and feet are very large, to provide cushion in landing and good grip for climbing, there are only three toes and three fingers (and a thumb) on each foot and hand. The ears are very expressive, as is the tail which flicks around in different ways to indicate mood, sort of a combination of the moods indicated by a dog's tail or domestic cat's tail. The tail is very long, the bones of which reach almost to the end of the plume on the lower half of it allowing for a great range of motion, but can be inconvenient in a closing door, or on a crowded street.
Sexually dimorphic, males have shorter fringe hair on arms and legs, less hair on top of the head and very little hair on the ears but more hair on the neck and back, they also have obvious horns and larger tusks, as well as longer claws and a thicker tail, their color is always dominated by a warm color or colors. Females have more fringe on the arms and legs, papillon dog style hair on their ears, more of a mop on top of the head, no horns, smaller tusks and claws and a thinner tail, their color is always primarily a cool color. Every Pictyral has at least 4 colors, one always being white, and one always being either gray or black. They come in 3 general patterns, though the overall presentation of the color/pattern is the same, blotched (shown) is the primary parttern for the species and can be expressed on both males and females. Additionally males can show a striped pattern or a mix of striped and blotched, and females can show a rosette pattern or a mix of rosettes and blotched. Males can never have rosettes, and females can never have stripes.
Their personalities vary from individual to individual, but as a general rule the species tends to avoid large bodies of water if at all possible, though they do enjoy the rain. They also dislike extreme dryness/desert. They range freely in most habitats and climates, equally at home in an urban setting as they are in a jungle. They are 100% omnivorous (neither leaning more toward meat or plant matter) which allows for greater adaptability in utilizing resources. They are generally a bit quick to temper, though they cool down from it quickly, fights between Pictyrals rarely last long or are too damaging to either party, however fights with other creatures can be heated and very dangerous as they don't easily come to an understanding as they will with their own kind.
More information will be available soon, this is till in a creation stage, but I will update it as I decide more backstory/natural history and that sort of thing.
These are a closed species, currently I am the only one allowed to use them though I am considering making them publically available I just haven't decided how I want to present them yet.
Inquiries are ok, outright asking for a handout not so much. Mostly I'm looking for some input on the species information at the moment, as I'm still working on that more than anything.
