Okay, me and my mate had a discussion about money...
"MORELS taste good in omelettes..."
...which I HATE with a passion: both money and talking about it. But, I also recognize that I'm not currently pulling my weight in regards to funds. Dammit. So I gotta work on the attracting customers thing. Hi! Come on over! I got something to show ya.
{Edits are being added as I think of 'em}
First up, backlog is getting done. I'm just gonna work on 'em one at a time and as I finish 'em, send 'em out. There might be a surprise or two in the packages.
Second: folks on the waiting-list have dibs on what I'm going to do next. >^__^< I have your names and I'll be contacting each of you soon in regards to the pretties you've been wanting made.
Third: no, Ender ain't here, man...
-moving on-
So here's the thing. Like I said, me and the hubby had a little talk about the finances. We're NOT hurting! No, that's not what this is about. It's about giving the poor man some effing free time and financial cushion. That is, he doesn't get any 'cuz he's been supporting me. (sorry, hon).
So we came up with this:
-reduce the number of projects. No more art, no more badges, no more small, fiddly things that take forever and don't make enough change for the time spent. Goggles might still happen, only 'cuz I REALLY like makin' gogs. Any art not commissioned or fursuit-related is getting taken down. Sorry if you've faved any of it. Just want to reduce the amount of stuff in my gallery so folks can find the fursuit-related things I've made in the past to judge whether or not they might like something I've made.
-consider not going to FC, but sending in pieces instead to save on hotel costs. I'll still be putting stuff into the art-shows, but it won't be flat art. Partials, tails, heads, maybe even a full fursuit, if I can swing it. Get some serious practice in and make some fun things to sell at conventions. Partials that are done well ALWAYS sell at auction. Califur is still an option and it may become my home Con for the next little while. We don't have to worry about hotels and stuff because we're close enough for it to be local. If Antheria ever happens again, maybe do that, too.
-concentrate on the costumes and garner more interest in them by getting more of them out there.
And the big deal of this whole thing: I'm opening for commissions. Just TWO, for the moment, and just suits or partials. No, tails don't count. Whoever snags the spots first gets a crazy discount of 35%. That's about $975 for a complicated partial (detailed head, feet, tail, hand-paws, maybe wings if you're a flyer), or a simple full-suit like Reese's Pieces (you choose species, of course). A full-suit from me normally goes around 1300-1500 max (I can raise prices later when and if people think my stuff is worth it).
[EDIT]If anyone is interested, please contact me. Understand that the wait will take a while (four months min to finish current pieces, get started on yours and do one for Califur's Art-show).[/EDIT]
If any of you are familiar with the character I jokingly call Reese's Pieces that I built for
reese, you'll know what I can do. Check through my gallery--it's full of tails, a few pairs of feet, even a cool ears/horns head-piece. I have plenty of fur, but I will make fabric runs if needed for something special to you. I have some wolf-jaw sets, several pairs of taxidermy eyes (currently I have four sets: clear with cat-slit pupils, lion-coloured with round pupils, deep, metallic blue with slit pupils and a purple/black with slit pupils available). If, like
reese you provided materials, costs come down (sorry, you can't stack the first-come first-serve discount with the provide materials one. I'd make no money! LOL) If your character has horns, for example, I have several pairs of horns and antlers I can take moulds of in resin to make your horns if yours is a rawr-suit, or make 'em out of foam and fabric if it's more toony.
To sum up:
-finishing backlog, with many many 'pollylodges for the late-times.
-noting the waiting-list to refresh contacts and let them know I'm still alive and working.
-offer to make suits.
-PROFIT!
-okay, not really, but I am hoping to get off my duff and do something worthwhile. [EDIT] <---Kanis sez this is too negative, so consider my journal ending off with sweetness and rainbows, kthankbye[/EDIT]
Throw some opinions at me! No, no, I said OPINIONS, not ONIONS! *whack-whack-thud* Well, at least I can make soup...

Not gonna break down. LOL But I might go crazy. RAWR! *giggles madly*
Could you note me, please, with your current shoe-size in flats so I can do your dragon paws? Or hey, how about basing them on socks? I'm making ap air for myself as an experiment and if it works out well, I might be able to offer that option to folks.
break down, go crazy. Same plop, different pile XD
Sure, I'll fire off a note to ya. I'll probably just use my shoe size, give me big feet some wiggle room
Since we're all in the shit together, we might as well get to shoveling? I say that to my many personalities on a regular basis. Getting 'em to work together is like herding cats. LOL
Seriously, though, yeah, I'm re-prioritizing to try and get things more organized and make a stronger contribution to our nest-egg. Art will still happen, just nowhere near as often, unless it's a Con commish.
Well good on yeah for taking a huge step forward, and honestly, best of luck and hope everything helps :3
Oh ofc, and once I get some extra money after getting my vacation plans in order, I'll probably throw in a commish for hand paws, and if you're willing, maybe some art for me and my special lady :3
Also sorry I forgot your b-day hun
I reminded myself like 3 times beforehand, then the day came and I never uttered a peep. My bad :<
As for the artings-they're going into scraps at the suggestion of
I hate gearing up for the end times anyway, the radiation suit gets fucking STIFLING after a few scant hours
*kisses and nuzzles and nibbles* Miss you. Hope you're both utterly AWESOME still XD
I hope you're doing well. Last time we talked you seemed kinda down.
Me, I'm doing well these days, thank you. I was down for a while, but I've worked through that - and still working, with the aid of 3 counsellors (yeah, I'm a real American now, right? XD), an endocrinologist and a change of diet that I'm doing my damnedest to stick to. Not least because it's the best way I know to lose weight that actually works for me, and also because avoiding carbs like the plague (a) controls my blood sugar [dragon is diabetic], (b) means I can sleep well at night, [c] gives me lots of energy and [d] doesn't disregulate my emotions. Yeah, lots of carbs are fine - honestly, truly, giving me sugar is like giving Robin Williams a couple of lines *sniff sniff* - but the sugar screws with my ability to control my emotions. That and my insides can react badly to some very common starches... yeaaaah.
But still, doing much, much better these days. *hugz and nibblez* aH amoS are, niHan aHi.
Okay, not really. I'm glad to hear your getting your health things under control. It's got to suck when you can't get out of bed or you feel tired and mopey all the time... *huggles*
Me, I'm also wondering what the heck is going on with my health. :-/ I sleep too much, bruising easily, can't seem to stop coughing (complete with goo. yuck) acid-reflux to zone ridiculous, been getting more bouts of the blues and the joints have been bratty with me lately. I'm either just getting old and I need to admit it, or there's something going on. Kani thinks it's my anti-depressant meds futzing with me. Got an appointment to look into it, so I'll hopefully know what the bleep is going on, soon.
Both me and Kani are trying to reduce the starches, since the sugars give us grief, too. Gives Kani muscle and head-aches, me just makes me unhappy in the tummy. At least I'm losing weight. Yay. Down from 230-ish to 210. Slow, but getting there. I can finally get into pants I couldn't wear for more than a year again. Woot!
When you go for your check-up, make sure they do blood tests on your pituitary, especially your cortisol levels. I don't know what antidepressant you're on, but from what I remember that kind of blood thinning, or easy bruising, isn't a symptom of any of them. I don't think it's just your mature years, sweetscales.
*nuzzles atcha and purrpurrs* Rowr. Hope the visit goes well & they figure it out. Keep me informed, okay? *nuzzles more* Love you both, ya know.
Definitely have sent people to look at your art but you managed to be closed for commissions often. Ill see about putting the word out again, especially once you clear your backlog.
Incidentally, these jeans...they are so fuckin nice to have on a cold day. I have been struggling to keep clothed this year.
The new account gives you an excuse to re-submit your fursuit related work, which gets you front page tine- essentially free advertising, consolidates your fursuit stuff for clients, and preserves your work that you already have up on FA.
Well, bollocks.
The hidden comment at the bottom of the page is me--I'd logged out to get to the reg-screen on another tab and forgot to re-log in here to reply to you. Derp.
