Oh, Atlanta, how I will miss thee...
I haven't even left yet, and I'm really bummed about having to go back home. I'm realizing more and more how much I love Atlanta and the people here... It's a great area, and it's not terribly far from my hometown. I'm all antsy and wishing I could give moving down here another shot, but I still don't think I'm quite ready - financially and mentally - to take that leap, no matter how much my home life is driving me up the friggin wall.
The downtown Atlanta area is quite an experience, and is a complete 180 from the Gateway Sheraton with nothing in walking distance. It was exciting to have everything within an arm's reach, and to explore a new selection of shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend Hsu's for upscale Chinese dining to anyone coming back next year (WAY more upscale than we were looking for at the time, but the food was AMAZING, you got what you paid for).
I had a BLAST this weekend, making new friends, catching up with old ones, and meeting some artists I've admired for a long time (which reminds me I have a FUCKTON of notes to send out and people to track down). IF I DID A BADGE FOR YOU, PLEASE SCAN IT AND EMAIL IT TO ME. <3 ILU FOREVERS :D
I came to this con with next to no art supplies... all I had in my bag was a stack of cardstock and my pencils and pens... So a huge thank you to Torishima Eve for lending me colored pencils and badge clips, and to Glowsheep for selling me laminating pouches. It'd been ages since I picked up colored pencils, so it was nifty to experiment with them and try some things out. I also picked up super-cheap RoseArt glitter stuff (I guess it's just good ol'-fashioned glitter glue) and started using it on badges, as well, with really nice results. I love trying new things, especially with my art, so that was fun.
I really enjoyed seeing Sean Blackthorne and Torishima Eve again, as well as my AnthroXtacy buddies, Ariana and Echelon. Ari, Ech, and I had a sort of makeshift AX table in artist alley Sunday afternoon and wound up chatting with some nice folks from around SL. LOVE US, TINI >:D WE BE DOIN UR BIDDING. I was also excited to run into Kilcodo and Glowsheep again (love you ladies~!), and to meet Arphalia (I fangirl babbled at her a bit), whose art I've loved for ages (I very much enjoyed table-ing with you on Sunday :D ). Finally got to meet DCRabbit after chatting for god knows how long online now (and FINALLY got my book back from him, after a whole year). Got awesome art in my book from Strider Orion (crayon grenades FTW), and a Sexual Harassment Panda HAT from Glowsheep (definitely need to commission a custom).
Congrats, again, to Matthew Ebel (aka Hali of Firpine) on being guest of honor (alongside the fabulous Lizardbeth, of course), it was SUCH a blast to see you again, dear. <3 Imma draw you some burd :>
Sold more badges this weekend than at the prior FWA's that I have attended (combined), and got to try some new challenges, including doing three badges with absolutely no reference art whatsoever, and the commissioner in each case changing their mind about details as we were laying them out. This actually turned out to be a lot of fun, tossing ideas back and forth and figuring out exactly what each person wanted. I'm looking forward to finishing up the one badge I had to bring home with me. I really should offer badge commissions... They're fun and relatively easy to do, and they kind of kick me in the butt and get me to start drawing again... a kick in the butt I can use as often as possible.
To my SL friends and fans that had a total flipout over me disappearing, I'll be back for my regular Tuesday night shift, ready to roll out the tunes at AX again. Sorry I abandoned y'all, but a gal's gotta get out of the house now and then. :D FWA is like... the ONLY furry con I can guarantee being at EVERY year, because it's a (relatively) short drive and I a lot of folks I know go to it. <3 Oh, and Atlanta is awesome.
Ummmm~ I think that's about everything... I'll be posting the badges I get scans of as soon as I get them, and I'll be scanning the ones still in my possession to post, as well. And then I'm going to tackle the remainder of Tinintri's WIP giftart, and start studying how to draw furries of animals that are completely foreign to me... LIKE FRIGGIN SHARKS, DUDE. SHARKS.
Also, I can apparently draw a decent-looking penis at a moment's notice... WHY WAS I NOT AWARE OF THIS? I've been capable of drawing decent-looking male genitalia this whole time and had no friggin clue D: CREATIVE CHALLENGES, PLZ. <3 ...guess I better brush up on the rest of the male body, because I sure as hell still can't draw guys who aren't built like girls...
ANYWAYS. Going to get lunch with Ariana tomorrow (later today?) and then head on home... might stop off in Charlotte to visit some family (though briefly, I'm gonna be tired as hell), See you folks when I get home! <3

But, it was good to see you again. Hopefully, next year, I'll have the money for a room so we don't have to travel at 3 am back to my house.
I mean, that's if you go next year. You have a safe trip back to NC.
Peace out
also: need more hanging outing next time!
