Dunno if offering a 15 dollar discount is good at the 10 dollar level. You'd have to keep track if you're doing it by time-length.

Like say if someone right now gave 10 bucks. Patreon bonuses, plus 5 dollar discount on whatever ya did. Could just cancel their patreon after or not renew.

Think there's a small clash between creativity and what a user might seek from you (ala Commissions or the like.) But think it's a very wonderful idea to try Patreon.

I intentionally give a bigger discount then the amount you're actually paying as an incentive to get people interested. They get to save 5 bucks, and I get 1 more patron I may not have had before and who may continue to pledge in the future!

I'm well aware that right now, it's really easy to pledge, get the rewards, and then bail. I'm also aware that Patreon is working to make changes that would require people to pledge the money immediately as apposed to waiting right now.

It really is a stupid system currently, why do people get access to your content when they haven't payed yet? But for now I'm just going to trust my Patrons, best I can do is assume that if someone is commissioning me that they care about me and my art and aren't going to rip me off.

And if they do, I can ban them from being a patron and put them on my personal shitlist, and I'll likely never accept a commission from them again. So it's up to that person whether or not they want to gamble with my trust.

I thought Patreon had became an auto-pay sort of site though, a shame they haven't yet. Would empower the users rather than the crowd.

If it's any consolation, not that I fathom it is, if I had the income to comfortably dispense your way, I happily would. Need to be settled before I feel comfortable investing in Patreons monthly though. You are definitely worth the cash, and I'd tote that fact anywhere.

My research concludes that literally everyone does raffles and nobody has been so much as slapped on the wrist for it yet. ALMOST EVERYONE.

If someone reports you, your profile will be taken down. "Everyone does it" is a poor excuse to break the rules (and law).

Noted. Again I have more things to look over and consider before the end of the month, i have some other ideas to substitute for sketch raffles.

Also worth noting that the only one potentially taking risks with the law In this case is Patron themselves if they continue to not enforce there own rule, and the worst that could happen to a user is a ban.

Patreon can always include you into a potential litigation by resorting to the "we're only a payment platform, the user is the one who organized illegal gambling"-argument. :)
