The day I hate and dread when it comes around. I'm all too aware of the day, probably more so than most given how that day played out for me in particular...

It's a constant reminder for me...

When can we stop celebrating it? It only depresses the country more to keep remembering the past. Why not learn from it and move on?

But it's not really remembering it. It's putting a day aside to mourn, then the other 364 days a year, most people don't care about it. They just pretend to care today so they can seem like a good person. If they want to remember it, put it in a text book with all the other stuff they teach in Social Studies.

Actually, all the social studies textbooks I had in high school had it in there. It just wasn't really taught or anything. Though i don't think anyone's forgotten or anything.

None of the ones in my High School had it. We were too busy being taught about stuff before the 90's and stuff around the world.

Well we arnt actually celebrating it. More like remembering it...We do need to learn from it. ANd it woke alot of us up and now we are more prepared.

9/11 always makes me kind of sick, though. It's disturbing what people will do for stupid reasons.

Religion is a powerful thing- It gives soldiers the will to charge across fields, others to make the right decisions... and the criminally insane to pointlessly fly planes into buildings.

Also, I know it sounds cheesey, but you don't just stop existing. You still got all the people that have memories of you. My dog died this last May, but that doesn't mean he doesn't exist. We still have all the photos and memories of him.

I love that people still honor this day, but I hope that it is honoring the memories of those who died, and not to whip others into a psuedo-patriotic blood-frenzy...

Myself, I lit a candle on my Blessed Dead Shrine and said a prayer for the souls of all those who died in the attacks, but other than that have lived my life as normal.

Its not a celebration but a memorial.
A way to keep the nation's awareness constant.
If it is in any way a celebration, then it is a celebration for those who assisted, and the nation's union during such dark times.
A sign that even in the darkest of moments, we stand together and as strong as ever.


I like the idea Obama gave.
To not just remember on September, 11; but to go out and help those in need. A day for volunteers and charities to unite towards common goals....Yeah -smiles-

my grandmother has already died, my mom's on her way with about a few months left, maybe less, and my dads in such bad shape i wouldn't be surprised if he left any moment now.

What's done is done (well it's not done, cause they used it as an excuse to go to war) but seriously, get over it. To anybody that lost family and friends, go ahead and mourn, but otherwise... yeah. So was the American Revolution (1775-1783), and the War of 1812 (1812-1815), and World War 1 (1914-1918) and 2 (1939-1945), what's your point? Just because it's in the past doesn't mean it hasn't permanently affected the future. I firmly believe you need to open your eyes and realize how ignorant you are being for criminalizing the people who have lost anything big or small on this day eight years ago. It's not a celebration, and on some levels it's not even a dedication, at the core this day is a reminder that this can happen to anyone, anywhere and we as a nation are trying to prevent that from happening to anyone else, ever again. And remember that at the end of the day brave men and women are willing to lay down their lives so you can have the freedom to talk down on them from behind the comfort of your keyboard.

Except those were wars, which lasted for years. This is an attack, that lasted for a day and then caused us to go to a war which many people don't approve of.

some of those wars were started by attacks that lasted a day. and there have always been people who have disapproved of said wars . for example WW2 and WW1 had its isolationist they believed we should have left Europe alone and deal with its one problems for God sakes we had a depression why waste money on a war ?

Okay, how about a really important date, July 4th, 1776? Ring any bells? That was a single date, that we've been celebrating and remembering since then; and it caused a war too, many of which didn't approve of either. That was, of course, until they realized that doing nothing would make them a slave to tyranny. Still, how do you get off saying people should just "Move Along" about 9/11?

And I say people should move on because it was 8 years ago. There's nothing we can do about it now. We've already spent the trillions of dollars funding the war and used the countless lives of soldiers sent over there for some stupid war. We're not fighting for our allies or for our safety. If we were, we would have pulled out long ago.

thanks for keeping the public aware of what happend my friend. we shall never forget. my gradnfather who fought the second world war had fell upon his knees and cried... i haven't seen him do that before in my entire life that i knew him,, may god bless the families and let us support them through their time of sorrow and pain.
