Hello!
I just wanted to make this to update anyone interested in my character Irina.
As pretty much anyone can easily, I created Irina as a fetish OC. Her main purpose is to be used as such. But a huge part of me really doesn't want to do that.
She just doesn't feel like a character.
All I think there is to her personality right now is what would turn me on; that she really likes her stumps. Because of this, I at least want to develop some sort of reason for why she feels this way, even if it's only somewhat believable.
Because of this, I really need to somehow write stories that will express her personality beyond just a fetish. Maybe she likes to stick it to the man, despite being in a tight, albeit well-paying business job. Maybe she loves going out on hikes through the mountains, looking over vast wilderness, and clambering over boulder fields. Maybe she's reclusive and doesn't really like to talk to people. I don't know. and if I really do know what I want her to be like, I don't really know how I would express that without outright telling the reader what she's like.
Not only do I need to write stuff for her, I also want to make other characters with their own personalities. However, knowing me, I'm going to make most of them amputees as well, and they'll likely be at least comfortable with limb removal. But still, that just feels shallow.
If anyone has any tips on this or just wants to give their two cents, I'm all for it. ^^

talking about irina to friends, doing roleplay stuff, or even just writing out events for her to participate in like a rough draft. that all helps a lot to develop what you want her to be
you could give her a backstory as to why she wanted her robotic legs like maybe she wasn't strong enough for a sport/ maybe she works for an augment company and wanted to show an example of how far technology can push natural limits as an advertisement/ maybe she's into a crime syndicate and was made to alter her body in some way to join
those last examples you can build the character around the backstory then go from there, totally up to you, it's all your own head-canon in the end
And my idea for why she would develop a fetish for her stumps is because in her universe, limb augmentation is a pretty common thing, and it makes amputation - and in Irina's case, her lack of legs - inconsequential. So unlike today where it really is awful to lose a limb, for her it just doesn't matter, because she can simply plug in limbs that are much better than her originals. Not only that - and this is probably really outlandish and is completely unfounded - Irina sort of had a foot fetish, so she was already open to loving relatively odd parts of her body. On top of that, her amputation is a source of intrigue and exploration for her and is kind of fascinating in its own rite.
So I guess that's my justification for her liking her stumps lol, and I guess her attitude towards stuff like that can help me develop her personality; like she's a busy gal who doesn't want anything to slow her down.
I will definitely use your advice for future characters, and maybe one will have a much more graphic backstory to her ;3c
Thanks again! <3
