Update!
General | Posted 13 years agoErf, it's been a while since I ever have any activity.
So, things have been stressful and busy on the last few months ever since I got my residency card. I've been trying to get into drawing again but the problem is motivation. The things that happened took a toll on it and that's why I haven't been drawing.
The major impact on my motivation was the work application I did months ago. I got my residency card which meant that I can take up better job here in Ireland. Before this I've been working as a freelancer, and I want to work in a firm so that I have a more stable income. I applied to a marketing firm and I didn't get the job but I then asked as to why and I wanted an honest feedback. It was honest but it hurt my motivation on anything art or design related. So, I decide that I will need to study more after that and I will need to make a new portfolio since I don't think I want to use my old portfolio anymore.
Now, back to present. Been studying more, working idly on personal projects and for NordicFuzzCon. It's April, things not that great still. We need a new car and with me not having a job yet, it's gonna take a chunk of our savings. I still don't feel of working again though, as the result for the work I did for NFC was below par IMO. But at this rate, I will have to try though.
I plan to be able to have a new portfolio before May and I may be able to draw a bit here and there but we'll see. But I'm really sorry if I don't respond or anything.

Winding Down on Things
General | Posted 13 years ago*looks at the calendar* It's the 27th and Eurofurence is in 2 days. Which means I can say that my current status is blues-ish green-ish (turquoise?). In a way I'm glad since some stuff that I did for friends who are attending are out of my paws now. On the other paw, still a bit anxious since I don't have any confirmation how are some things turn out. Here's hoping that I won't have to lose my head for something I didn't foresee. On a lighter note, if you are attending; keep an eye out for some furs who are giving away name cards and check out some buttons. Remember to stay safe, have fun and enjoy the con =3
I will just play some games on Steam after this since I'm still a bit tired from a very short vacation to the countryside. My mate asked me if we would take two local furs back to their house from an anime con and stay over for a night. Since it's the countryside, I thought it'd be a good excuse to be out there and a break from my work. It was certainly enjoyable: going through Ireland's rolling green hills, looking pass farm animals, occasional castles and a great day to drive. We both had fun staying over, played some games and explored the village even though it can be depressing due to the recession hitting the area. We said goodbye to the nice furs who had us over and drove back today, passing through our emo stage of the trip, and here I am now =P
On an unrelated note, I had to turn down a few requests a while ago since I barely had time for myself. Which I dislike since I want to have an open door policy =/ Now that things have slowed down, I think I will have my usual policy of open requests. You know what I can do from my gallery, request away =P

Let's Talk Business
General | Posted 13 years agoNo, not about exchange of money between you and me.
I've been in the furry fandom for a while and I've seen and met people from different areas of expertise. But one area is very rare for me, finance. I'm still working on a general field of finance but trying to focus on personal finance. Hopefully I will be able to get CFA as well.
My question, is there any finance furries out there? =/
And if you happen to, just want a quick comment on what you think:
1. The efficient market hypothesis is slipping nowadays and is being replaced by behavioral finance. Do you still believe in the hypothesis or are you converting?
2. Gold, ever since it's recent attractiveness, everybody's going for this commodity. Personally, I would invest in it but not heavily but what's interesting is do you think it's better to start hedging on it or do you still think it's still gonna go up?
3. Did you try for CFA? How did you prepare for it? I've heard of colleagues doing from the most common sense thing to the absurd =P

Ramblings of a Bear - Review of Requests
General | Posted 13 years agoNote: This is just a personal rambling, you may proceed to ignore and delete it from your message center =P
Wew, I didn't actually think I'd do it but the 10 free sketches thing I opt in from another artist over at DA is actually done. Now, everyone who took the offer must do 10 free sketches as well *insert evil laugh* I'm not that mean, I actually took out that part from my journal for a reason *crowd boo-ing*. I should've gotten a free sketch from the artist I replied the journal from, but where is it? LoL, don't really care about it since I actually had fun doing it halfway through and gotten a lot of practice. I think that's worth more than a free sketch in return =D Review time:
Positive:
- I actually got more feedback compared to the barren wasteland that is called my DA page. I guess mostly because most of my buds who were the reason why I joined DA has become either not that active anymore or just completely gone.
- Finding new artists and getting to know new faces is always nice and drawing for them as well. Not trying to impress people or anything, I need a reason to do something different. If I didn't do this then I'll just be stuck drawing bears, and one particular occasional tiger.
- Knowing my limit, when I first started the 10 requests thing I was "I so can do this". After it came in "FUDGEEEE!!!!". Let this be a lesson for me since it can really wear me down and I really need to start learning to trust my gut instinct if it's telling me that I can't. Also, I ended up not doing anything for myself along with a backlog of things I want to draw.
Negative:
- Getting to see more faces i.e. I got to see different kinds of people more. Some people are generally nice, some... let's just say a little pushy. I guess that's why those went through a PM, guess accepting them through the journal has its benefits.
- I got a vague description of some of the requests. I guess since it's free so there's not really anything at stake for the one who ask. But, if this was a real commission work I'd be biting through my nail all the time. Since there's no description of what the finished look is requested, that means I have to look for ideas, look for references, plan the whole piece and then send out the rough. After that point, I'm just in their mercy, if the rough is rejected that means I have to do it all over again and it's not fun.
Conclusion:
I actually did put a few rules regarding the requests and I don't think it was good enough as I see a few holes that needs to be patched. Now I know my limit now and I shouldn't push much harder than I should. Definitely need to come up with a better ToS when it comes to dealing with requests. For now, I need a break and finally get to draw something for me.

Job Test based on Colors? How Fun!!
General | Posted 14 years agoSince that free sketches spots are filled up, guess I should roll it down just so that it doesn't look like I'm still offering them. Never actually write much journals so it's a bit embarrassing that I actually forgot how to make a new one =P
There's been a lot of career tests but they all usually pretty boring like asking your personality, left or right brain, etc. Then there's this...
http://www.careerpath.com/career-tests/color-test/
Was on The Escapist earlier and saw an article about it. Finally, a test that is actually fun to do!! It gives an assessment of what career that suits you based on your color preference. Personally, I don't think it's the most accurate but it uses pretty colors to test you =D
I got "Creator" as my primary and "Organizer" as my secondary. Guess it's pretty close because I do a bit of graphic design work and aiming for a CFA certification. What did you get? =3

5 Free sketches
General | Posted 14 years agoFrom: http://kenichi340.deviantart.com/jo.....-not-299629194
Free sketches for the first 5 person to comment on the journal. Since it's on my DA journal as well so I'm going to split the spots in half and see where that goes =P
My gallery on DA provide more works I've done, you can get an idea on what styles I can do and an idea how it will look like =3 http://kanda88.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=/
Update:
Before you ask, yes, I'm still doing this untill all the spots are filled. Anddd.... I should've put up a system or some sort to this thing before things actually pick up =/ *slaps myself* Anyways, ground rules:
1. I will not do anything above PG rated
a. I will do: babyfur stuff, feral, carebear style
b. I will NOT do (due to limited skill): anime style, transformation, vore, macro, fat, muscle, pregnancy, mostly fetish stuff
c. I reserve the right to refuse if I feel incapable or uncomfortable doing the request (based from experience, I don't want to put half commitment on it)
2. I will do 2 characters max, per request
3. Please provide references regarding the characters
4. Please provide description of the finished work (pose, clothes, or anything else specific in mind)
*Special Rules*
5. Due to how I work, you will get flat colored picture instead of sketch
6. You should expect a finished work between 4 to 7 days, also depends on the queue (ie. 3rd in queue means 12 - 21 days)
I'm sorry that I need to set this up, just so that I can immediately start instead of waiting for reply. I want to take the opportunity to take it like taking a commision work, as a practice. Please, it's still not an actual commision, bear (Ha!) with me =3
