If you have been enjoying the "art catch up" going on with my FA account, you should know that you've been missing all this art when it was originally posted on SoFurry.

I have migrated to SoFurry as my main furry art site and do not have any plans on moving back here. I also don't really +fav or +watch a lot on here anymore. I am actively supporting artists who use SoFurry actively (not just when FA goes down or for occasional catch-up) and do watch and fav there.

There isn't anything here on FA that isn't also available on SoFurry*, and the admins and tech staff are much better over there. Maybe there is less traffic but as people transition over it will get better and better.

Dream a couple weeks ago: Tornado completely destroys my house and all the highway bridges close to it. Very scary. Nobody hurt, just lost my house.
Dream this morning: Police looking for a suicidal person... I run into him myself, and he's a fursuiter. He's convinced he has nothing to live for but I ask how could he want to kill himself if he's a fursuiter?! Thought I was making good progress, and then I wake up.

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a roommate since I had two roommates move out last month. I have a big 2-story house in Elmhurst with a brand new fully equipped kitchen, hot tub, washer/dryer, two 42-inch TVs and all kinds of console games in the common area as well as Comcast HDTV with a common DVR system (you don't *have* to rent your own cable box, you can link in to DVR with any PC, or if you want I will provide a basic SDTV converter box for you to use for free). It's a real nice place to live and I may even throw some furry house parties on slow con months in the future.

You get your own bedroom which is big enough for a PC and has a spacious closet. Room also comes with a twin bed with a basic mattress. House is neat lifestyle, be prepared to clean after yourself.

The only catch is I have no place to park a car since my roommate and I have both spots in the garage taken and no street parking is allowed in the city. But, this is a great place to live if you don't drive - you can walk/bike to Jewel, Walmart, Walgreens, most of the standard fast food places, and the Oakbrook Center mall which has a Pace bus terminal that connects to the CTA Blue Line. Downtown Elmhurst and Metra are a 3 mile walk/bike trip and I'm on the prairie path. You may keep one bike in the garage.

Rent starts at $350 and 10% of utilities which works out to about $40/month. 1-month worth of rent due at lease signing for security deposit. 1-year lease although I can consider a 6-month if you have a good reason.

I doubt it. I've seen 2 and Kage's material for this year like 3 times already (and don't even like 2's material this year so much) and there's no dragon panel for me to crash in suit either. And I never go to the dance.

Hey random person who actually reads FA journals,
I am looking to get more split commissions and haven't had a great response. So, I'm opening up a lottery to get a FREE split commission, meaning I will pay both my and your share.

Here's the rules:
1. Comment on this journal if you're interested. If you have multiple characters or no one clear character include a ref.
2. Friends have priority over strangers, and if it's a sex pic, people I have actually had some kind of sex with have priority. But, I also don't guarantee I'll follow this rule.
3. Could be clean or sex or somewhere in between. Throw out your picture ideas if you have them.
4. I'll pick the one I'm most interested in - it's NOT a random drawing.
5. There's a few artists I'm looking at but if you have one in mind or especially one who will open up a commission slot just for you, include the artist's ID!
6. If I get enough responses that more than one interests me, I might come back to you with another offer to do it for some $$$.

So, it's 1 AM. I tried to sleep, but I am still out of whack on my sleep schedule and having too many thoughts enter my head. Might as well get them out and see what happens rather than stay the course I've been on which was ignoring them and moving on.

The kindling of the whole thing started with - yep - Athus. The fact that I'm still posting journals on the subject of this person is probably offensive for a lot of reasons, but hear me out.

I found that two dragons I used to know pretty well actually knew Athus - and saw their names pop up among the people talking about his death personally impacting them (i.e. in a much bigger way that someone like me who only met the guy at one or two ACs). Although I only knew Athus from a distance as a watcher and whatnot, I definitely knew these folks and we used to chat almost every day at some times. So in a combination of, seeing how close Athus's friends were to him inspiring me to want to try harder on making/keeping friends, and seeing that some of those people are people I used to talk to all the time, that's what is on my mind right now.

I don't know what happened but it seems like around the same time I graduated college, the people I interacted with started to change. That's about the same time I started getting into LAFF meets, like bowling. It was also right after my breakup and in that period where I was pretty sure I would not be looking to have a mate again.

Notice how I say I "was" sure... I am starting to warm up to that idea again. But, I know I can't force it, so I'll stick to the plan of making friends and if one develops, watch what happens. But, as many things as a group of people can do, there are some experiences that only work for a couple (or MAYBE three).

Anyway, I have realized that there are a lot of people I talked to “way back when” that I have not talked to in years. I don’t know why. Maybe we mutually didn’t feel like putting the effort to see if the other was still interested… maybe we fought over something (but I can’t remember what it would be now). Either way, I will probably try and re-establish contact with some older friends I’ve had just out of curiosity more than anything. Maybe I am remembering the old friendships more fondly than I should, but I don’t want to assume that. Right now I don’t have many friends that I keep in contact with and I am looking to change that.

P.S. If you’re a friend of mine, old or new, and I’m not chatting you up anymore – if you come to me and ask me about it I will probably admit it was sloppiness on my part, not that I was tired of/mad at you. Or perhaps I was but I honestly can’t remember and I would give you a second chance, and I hope I would get one too. I hope I have a better personality than 5 years ago but I know that I have a different one.

Incidentally the Boo at the Zoo today brought me face to face with some old furs who I feel had a low opinion of me in the past and it was remarkably civil, so that may be a start.

Okay, I'm still thinking about  athus a lot - not really too surprising, especially since I don't have many things going on in my life to get particularly emotional about so I keep riding the last "big thing."

Both among furries and people in general... as people who grew up in the Internet age die, at a time when they EXPECT to die, things are probably going to get pretty weird...

I am totally going to have to set up a cron script on some server that nobody knows I have access on, and if I don't poke it for 60 days, it starts sending out posthumous tweets, e-mails, whatever. (Oh shit, if any of you furries who've got extra years on me are reading this, I will kick your dead ass if you steal my idea.)

Or maybe I'll be really old and not give a shit about doing silly stuff like that. Who the fuck knows. But... my dildo collection will have to go somewhere.

I'm going to confess something. Since I heard on Thursday that  athus met his untimely demise, I have been pretty bummed out. Some background is necessary:

He and I weren't friends. I knew him and thought fondly of him, and I'm not sure if he or anyone else in the BD group remembers me. But, I have a number of friends and acquaintances who were friends with him, and this is the closest a furry death has come to my immediate circle of friends. I did spend some time with Athus and Narse at AC ‘10, so I have memories with him even if they're short ones. He also is one of the first artists I knew about since long ago – I have pictures from 2003 saved off, pre-FA. These things combined mean I feel a loss even for someone I wasn’t on speaking terms with.

Needless to say, if I’d taken the time to know him better, I very well might be a lot worse off than “pretty bummed out.” Even so - I regret that I didn't and that I'm not.

As I get older, I know I will have to deal with more of my “furry family” dying, although hopefully simple old age will be to blame more often than not.

One thing that I have found myself doing is wondering if the community would be in so much grief if I was suddenly gone. It’s not something I’m proud of, but it is human nature if you want to call it that. I would like to touch the people around me, and for once, I don’t mean that in a naughty way. I’ve been trying to get back into the swing of being a furry, like I was some years ago, and bringing joy to more people. I don’t really know where to start, though.

I undertook a project of unbricking bricked Wiis since I have all the tools to do it (from trying to unbrick my own Wii, which didn't work). I've unbricked two Wiis and installed Homebrew Channel and USB Loader on them. If anyone wants to buy the Wiis off me, send me a PM or contact me one of the other bunch of ways there are to contact me. I have AC adapters, sensor bars, regular A/V cables and even one stand/plate, so let me know which accessories you need and I'll price accordingly.

So as you may or may not have seen, my Wii is bricked.

I am able to boot games with recovery mode but I can't get into the menu. I may be able to fix it, if I run the Smash Stack exploit on the PAL version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

I am a fully legit owner of the USA version, but the USA version crashes in autoboot mode. I've read reports that the PAL version doesn't.

I tried all the pirate sites but they all have a modified version that fits on a 4.7GB single layer DVD. This does not work on my Wii because the unsigned content bug is broken. I need the full, real, DVD9 double layer version.

If one of you out there has the game, could you be a sweetheart and dump it to a .wbfs file using WiiBackupManager and send it to me? Get in touch and I'll give you an FTP or something you could use.

It was not sold as wall ready and the auction had a small turn out, so it did not get what it's worth. I had to buy it, and I've put it in a nice frame and it looks very magnificent now. I've got the whole thing posted on FurBid. Go bid or buy it now!

Speaking of the charity auction, I put in three nick-nacks from the house that were probably worth $1 each or less. They got a total of $40 for the charity! It's weird but it seems like the goofy little things sell better than actual artwork.

Having five or six orgasms in a row can lead to a minor ballache, but it is still definitely worth it.

I am really wondering something after MFF. It is apparent to me that I'm not well liked. I have a couple of friends but most of the fandom wants nothing to do with me even if I try to be friendly and inviting. And yet people who have less social skills than I do have more friends and are more well liked. People I could have sworn everybody doesn't like know where all the parties are and I end up seeing them having con sex in videos posted later.

What am I doing wrong? Is it because I don't go to dances? Or go on SL? Is it my appearance? Am I not chatty enough? I'm stumped.

Pros:

Have to drive to food/shopping (but I drive and parking is free so not an issue for me).

Popufurs blow. It's getting harder to find people who aren't corrupted. As a rule, the more popular a person is in this fandom, the more they do things that make me hate them and want them to disappear.

Due to experiences connected with the above item, a few people are no longer people I consider friends.


I am a little burned out on the furry thing and I am going to skip large gatherings for a while. (There will still be LAFF bowlings but I may be less engaged than normal). I'm skipping my plan to squeeze in extra cons and instead I'm going to try and spend more individual time with furries that don't suck over the winter.
