Any experts in laptop game machines out there?
General | Posted 9 years agoI THINK I want a mid-range game machine to replace my aging Vaio. I THINK I want a VR-capable mid-range machine.
Any experts out there who can offer me some advice?
What do I want for a screen: UHD monitor? What resolution?
What about processors?
I'm pretty sure I want the NVIDIA GTX 1060 or 1070 for the future VR ability. I DO have an Xbox One, so does that mean I won't need a VR-ready machine?
Price limit: $1,700.
Hep me!

Here is a description of book one:
Mean, moody and muscled, Bronco is a young, hard-bodied fist fighter trying to brawl his way up from illegal prize fights in warehouses, bars and dirty back allies up to glittering underground fighting championships attended by the very best people and featuring the highest of stakes. The Boss knows that his modern-day gladiator and the two-fisted, no-holds-barred battles he fights in are just the fix an apathetic society will soon demand to satiate its ever-escalating addiction to 24-hour entertainment and stimulation. But who IS The Boss and what is the secretive organization running the fights? Violent, sensual and dystopian, Warrior is a book — or is it a transcript — about primitive drives in a too-modern world in decline.
Here is a description of book two:
Bronco Brown, the mean, moody and muscled anti-hero of Warrior: A Fighter’s Odyssey is back for Round Two. This season the young, hard-bodied fist fighter has bare-knuckle-brawled his way up from illegal prize fights in warehouses, bars and dirty back allies to glittering underground fighting championships in the finest locations attended by the very best people for the highest of stakes. Bronco’s mysterious manager, The Boss, helps his sadistic gladiator reach new heights in the fight game by entering Bronco in bouts reaching the lowest depths of violence and depravity. The Boss and the secretive organization running the fights remain one step ahead of a society that demands ever-increasing extremes of violence and sex to kill their boredom and feed their appetite for the forbidden. Can Bronco survive his bloody world of alpha males and brutal domination? Violent, sexual, sensual and dystopian, Warrior — Round Two is a book — or is it a transcript — about primitive drives in a too-modern world in decline.

General | Posted 11 years agoYou'll LOVE this guy: Bronco! For this crowd, he can be a horse/colt if you want, and maybe he is, but that's not specifically mentioned in the book.
And it IS a book about good, old-fashioned BRAWLING! WITH erotic elements! AND costs LESS than a cup of coffee, dammit!
Go look just for the cover art (by the lovely and beloved Forge) and tell me what you think of it and THE BOOK after you BOUGHT IT! (Hope it's okay to mention it on here. I'm sure the admins will let me know if it's not).

Ending my BANNED list - how about you?
General | Posted 12 years agoOkay - I find it to be total B.S. to leave shitty comments about someone on their own damn submission page and then block that person from responding. Don't know about the rest of the planet, but it's not a very American thing to do (you Europeans seem to adore it, which explains why we had to come pull you jerks off each other TWICE in the 20th century). SO:
I am MANNING UP and clearing my "banned" list right now. I banned a group of people who leapt on me and started stomping a few months back, but I'm a grown-up and not afraid of words or haters so everyone is welcome to weigh in, just be MAN enough and DECENT enough to allow me to comment or react to your shitty comments.
Can't we all just not get along openly instead of hiding behind mother FA's "banned" skirts? Sheesh...
Now, let's step outside...

Artist/Commissioner Bill of Rights?
General | Posted 17 years agoAs a commissioner who has spent somewhere around $2,000 on commissions, I can't help but feel that commissioners are the second-class citizens of the art world, but in some ways, maybe that's as it should be as we're not the talented ones.
Having said that, rather than venting from the back of the bus, I thought I'd be constructive and offer up a kind of artist/commissioner bill of rights so that both sides can be treated fairly and with honesty.
Artists and commissioners - anything that should be added to this list? Anything that's wrong with it? Feel free to offer up your opinions - I don't plan on weighing in beyond the list below.
Please note - if you have ever delivered on a commission for me, this is not aimed at you - I'm happy and grateful - nor is it aimed at anyone in particular.
10. Artists: If you're an artist who doesn't accept commissions - or isn't accepting commissions at the moment - make sure you update your commission information to reflect that.
9. Artists: If a potential commissioner asks if you'd like a commission - even if you indicate you're not open to one - all you have to say is, "No." A "thanks" added to that might be nice as all the commissioner wanted to do was give you money for your work which he or she clearly likes. There's no need to respond with anger.
8. Commissioners: It's your responsibility to give the artist as clear an idea of what you want as you possibly can before any drawings are made. That means knowing what you want before asking, then sending a very complete, well-edited description to the artist. You might write up something in advance, then cut and paste it into an email. If the artist refuses, you've got it ready for the next artist you ask.
7. Artists and commissioners: Try to agree on a date for the project's completion. It's only fair that the artist drive that timeline as he or she is the one who has to put in the hours and juggle other duties.
6. Artists: If you can't complete a commission in three months, you're probably too busy (or a little burned out with a need to step away for awhile) to accept commissions.
5. Commissioners: You should be allowed a few alterations to the initial sketches. A few means about three small changes per drawing. If you feel there are more than three small alterations, review the concept with the artist and ask about the possibility of a new sketch.
4. Artists: Think long and hard before accepting a commission. Cancelling a commission after accepting it should only happen in extreme circumstances.
3. Commissioners: You owe the artist immediate payment on delivery.
2. Artists and commissioners: The artist gets to dictate when and how to receive payment and the amount. If the commissioner doesn't like any aspect of that, don't pursue the commission.
1. Artists and commissioners: You owe each total honesty every step of the way.
