General | Posted 15 years agoPlease don't promote the breeding of Wolf/dog hybrids people
General | Posted 15 years agoI get that you might be a good owner for such an animal! I get that you have experience.
For fuck's sake, at least rescue. It makes me rage when people think it's a-okay to promote the breeding and selling of an animal that should not be a pet.
Get a husky. Adopt a mutt. Get something that isn't part fucking wolf.
Wolf-dog hybrids should not exist as pets, period. If one needs to be rescued, it's lovely that there are people that can handle such an animal. I see no other excuse otherwise.
Don't be selfish, adopt an animal that's meant to be a pet or just can't be wild because it was wrongfully bred as one.

Ah school
General | Posted 15 years agoIn true me fashion, I've greatly over stressed myself over grades after final exams. After getting to the point of shaking with nerves over fears that I might have horribly failed a class, I find out I've passed with a C
I so wish I could have gone a week without thinking I was gonna die.

My thoughts on WoW Catacylsm so far :D
General | Posted 15 years agoIf you don't play World of Warcraft... You won't get anything I'm saying.
Overall I'm in love with all the changes (especially flying in the old world sashdfsdjfh MUCH NEEDED, especially for grinding Jewelcrafting)
My guild was obsessed with getting to 85 super fast (To the point of one guy didn't sleep for 24 hours after it released... There's a reason we don't like this guy.) so I didn't tinker with the new races much until I capped.
As for the leveling areas, ULDAM <3 Packed full of Blizz's normal cheese, but less than I expected. I managed to get every single quest there. Quite the grind but fun as hell. Figures I'd love that area as a furry considering it's covered in cat-taurs. And Egyptian gods! So awesome, even if the dungeons associated with it are tough and/or long.
My thoughts on the dungeon changes:
- Pros:
- You actually have to work together! There's no running through a dungeon with a silent team and having a nice chat when facing waves of wipe-tastic mobs is nice
- Dps is more of a challenge. I have to really have my rotation in line.
- The bosses have quirks and strategies which I really enjoy; it makes fighting the same guy for five minutes a bit more bearable
- Quests at the start of dungeons? Fuck yeah
- Deadmines is harder for a new 15, but even more fun now
- Cons:
- Healing is horrendous and nerve wracking at times. So much damage being taken. D: I don't heal for the guild but I still love it, so it kinda sucks that I can't just jump in and have a good time healing
- PuGs are very very iffy, with people dropping, especially tanks, all the time. It favors guild runs. I like guild runs, but there's not always enough people that want to do dungeons online that aren't already doing one...
- Earlier our whole group was slaughtered by a single add in a heroic dungeon. That doesn't feel right.
- Very little flexibility or room for mistakes even on the regular dungeons
Now onto Goblins and Worgen. I rolled one of each, a Warlock and Warrior respectively. (I have been waiting until cata to roll a Lock just so I could be a teeny green chick that summons big demons)
- I made a Worgen first, and was very pleased with the story starting off. Considering they're werewolves, I would have been very disappointed if I started off already furry. The story chain was not as long and involved as the Goblin chain, which was a little disappointing, but there were some fun, quirky missions to start off with.
[Possible Spoiler] What I did not like was how the Horde was protrayed. Horde and Alliance hate each other of course, but only Goblins and Worgen seem to want the player to despise the other faction right off the bat. The Alliance didn't come off well in the Goblin chain, but the Worgen got fucking Windrunner the Bitchface. The shit, come on! Way to showcase the worst of the Horde. Her killing Liam too boot... geez </spoiler>
- Goblins are awesome. The starting quest chain is long and fun to the end. They shove the "HATE OTHER FACTION" shit in your face like with Worgen, but it's not as bad. And you can see Thrall! I could have done without his durr hurr moment of keeping the trade prince in power.
I really have no complaints with the goblins, they're awesome. Their racials are pretty fun too, who doesn't want a rocket belt? I have no idea why you would get a boost to alchemy though, engineering would make more sense.
- I'm Horde but I'm 99% PVE so the encouraging of PVP does not appeal to me.
Story wise Cata is pretty cool, but I'm hoping we don't have to wait for another expansion to see some progression, especially with the threat of full out war between factions looming. Windrunner is becoming even more of a problem and Hellscream is a dumbass warmongerer. Things are not looking great for the Horde.
And finally a note on guild leveling. I like the idea and its nice to get perks for working for your guild but the xp and reputation cap is pretty strick, especially for a very active guild like mine. I know this is to help smaller guilds keep up, but we could have leveled an insane amount past the cap by now and it's pretty frustrating to have all the quests out of the way thus they don't give guild rep.
Also on that note... It seems pretty unfair that solo or casual players can get no perks at all. A solo player can work just has hard but miss out on a lot.
Man I hope they make dungeons a little easier with the next patch

General | Posted 15 years agoDid you pay for the art an artist is posting? (Alternatively, did you do anything in return for this art like a trade?)
No?
Then you can't bitch if they take it down. It's not yours bitch, deal with it.
Artists you don't pay for their work don't owe you shit. :)
You want to see it forever, you better fucking save it!
It amazes me the sense of entitlement some fa users have in regards to art they like.

Comics are more than a few pictures and word ballons
General | Posted 15 years agoJust something that bugs me about comic artists with good art, but no sense of how to lay out a comic page. I see, too often, comics being treated as several images squeezed on a page to tell the story. To make a comic flow, I think it needs to be regarded as a whole image, not just several parts. No matter how good the art is, if the panels don't relate well to one another the flow's going to be broken and choppy.
It's somewhat disconcerting to see these beautiful panels shoved together with a cheap black border. Everything about a comic relates to the whole image. This is true of the text as well. Cartoony speech bubbles over very realistic digital paintings just looks off. This is while I love it when artists hand draw their speech bubbles instead of slapping them on as an afterthought.
I just wish more people, especially artists whose other works show great skill and knowledge of composition, would treat a comic page like a composition itself that needs to be as carefully and artfully laid out as the individual images that make it up.
Ps. Something interesting I noticed is that often a comic artist's skill at comic layout (and sometimes the art itself) is closely tied to writing skill.

Changes (Story/writing related)
General | Posted 15 years agoFinally had to kick myself in the mental nuts and get over the fact that my precious plot of my story from when I was 13 makes fuck all sense and my characters are leaning towards Mary Sues in appearance.
I've had the hardest time forcing myself to change characters that haven't had a facelift in years. (Red eyes and white hair anyone?!?) It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be... And I'm happier. :I
I like things being more realistic, well maybe that's not the right word... Believable is more what I'm going for. Even in a fantasy story yes.
I really need to do some research, I'm completely nixing the plot of my story, starting fresh. Remaking the world, the plot, the relationships. What I've found so crippling in my writing is that I've been so unwilling to give up with work I already put into it. I didn't want to admit that no matter how many years I put into the original plot it wasn't going to make me happy.
So clean slate.
I feel better.
Also realizing in my art that dogs and canine like things are easy to draw, but they're not fun. I'm a cat person anyways. :D Also birds. I want to draw more birds.

Realism does not automatically make something good
General | Posted 15 years agoI mean this is both art and writing.
Realistically, changes in one's life can happen at any moment, including deaths, injuries, and illness. Realistically, there is often no buildup to a sudden, painful tragedy. True this might be, it doesn't make it automatically good story telling if, without any (or with very minimal) prior themes of death/sadness/etc, something really bad happens. At that point, it's just a nasty shock to the reader. Strong emotion can be made through a character's death without making it a huge shock.
Example: Dumbledore dying (if you're a HP fan) There was at least SOME buildup to that scene and it was obvious he wasn't do so well. (I cried. Oh I cried. ;^;) Continuing with this, death has been a part of Harry Potter from the first chapter, it's not out of the blue for someone to die.
Switching things from a pleasant mix of humor and everyday life to sudden in-your-face emotion does not strike me as very good storytelling. It's... Fairly clunky, especially if the previous storyline has been consistent for a long while.
Realism doesn't excuse that. Realism is important, of course, but if it goes so far to interfere with the story telling, I get iffy.
I see a parallel with art along the same topic.
As my Drawing teacher put it: "You can do the most well rendered skull (skull still lives, fun) but if you put in a bad spot on the page, it's going to look off."
Realism, by itself, does not a good work make.

Anyone know any good tutorials for making masks/sewing?
General | Posted 15 years agoMy school's anime club hosts an Anime convention every year. Last year I went to the con cosplaying as a Team Rocket grunt. (Yes I cosplay, sue me, I don't squeal or be stupid. ><)
This year I want to make an Absol costume. Not a fursuit mind, I pretty much just intend to sew some fur onto a hoodie and pants. I haven't sewed anything in years, does anyone know how to sew fur fabric onto another fabric base? (Like say... A hood to a hoodie?)
However, I want to see if I can make a mask and gloves for the costume, just to make it a little better. The type of mask I'm thinking of is something like this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3564463/
Not that complex, but that's the idea. Considering cost... I'm thinking of making it out of paper mache, or something fairly easy to use.
If anyone knows a tutorial about making masks, that would be awesome~ Or if you make masks yourself, help?
As for the gloves, Absol has some funky big claws: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/.....on23/absol.jpg

Am I the only person that doesn't use Facebook/Twitter?
General | Posted 15 years ago'Cause seriously. Everyone and their mothers are using Facebook.
That's partially why I don't have one. I considered it once but didn't feel like chatting to
's mom before meeting her... And I dunno, It's kinda weird to be talking to my own mother online.
(I have a dislike of purely social websites anyways)
In other news, some mother fucking dickmunch stole my bike seat.
Thanks asshole.

Story of the most awesome wolf + stuff about art
General | Posted 15 years agoWhen I was fourteen and staying with my dad for the summer in Colorado he enrolled me in a wolf camp. Basically it was a bunch of young teens camping and traveling in the woods (by van, I remember it breaking down. Fun times.) for about a week. The trip ended at a wolf and wolf/dog rescue. (NOT for adoptions, all the wolves were there to stay in HUGE penned off areas of forest in either packs or pairs. Tubes tied, no cubs.)
While there we learned the story of the most badass wolf. When we saw her, she had three legs. Before that however, she was the alpha female of her pack. Not only that, but she had jumped the fourteen foot high fence and dominated the pack next door, then jumped back.
One day the staff noticed she was limping. Worried, they went into the pen to dart her and take her in to be seen by a vet. Now, these are by no means hand-raised, human loving wolves. They're wild, shy, and can be aggressive. It took enough tranquilizer to kill two horses to get her down.
As it turned out, while jumping back and forth, she had hurt one of her hind legs and it had to be removed. After she had recovered from the surgery she was put back with her pack. Instead of being hindered or crippled by her missing leg and stay away from the pack, she kicked the current alpha's ass, jumped the fence, and kicked the ass of the other pack's alpha too.
She's still alpha of both packs. (Or was at the time, considering this was four years ago.)
That is one badass wolf.
Shit about art:
I checked and it seems I haven't posted squat in two weeks. All I have TO post are doodles really. :/ I had hoped getting back into art classes would help me get back into drawing, but tedious still lives (I still love doing them, don't get me wrong) and basic exercises are not really getting me far in ways of personal (or owed) art.
I can post some of my doodles if anyone wants to see them. I have a new design of Clover at least.

Roomate starts fire while boiling water!
General | Posted 15 years agoLast night was rather eventful. One of my roommates, while trying to boil water, turned on the wrong eye. The same eye that had a plastic piece to her french press (a manual coffee maker).
So she and another roommate were SHRIEKING while the plastic burned. Thankfully they were more reliable than my third roommate who bolted as soon as she saw the fire. They managed to put it out with fire extinguisher but not before our whole apartment/dorm room was full of smoke. Alarms went off of course and we had to wait in the hallways for one, our RM to appear, and two, for the fire department to get there to air out the room and turn off the alarm.
That roommate was nicknamed "Fire-starter" by a campus police officer.
(It wasn't scary, we all laughed through the whole thing, mostly at Firestarter's expense)

Well this is a petty annoyance (hybrids)
General | Posted 15 years agoBecause I am a high strung twat, something that bothers me is when people make a hybrid character (Like say, a bird/dog mix) and make it 90% one species the remaining 10% is like... The other species' tail. And I don't think this would bug me if the character wasn't called a hybrid/mix. When I think hybrid, I think of a 50/50 mix.
LET'S SHOW SOME CREATIVITY HERE PEOPLE. Work with the elements you're given and make something awesome and new! Your dog with the bird tail does not count as a dog/bird hybrid to me. >:[
I love making hybrids. I can't make my fursona anything but a cross species mess. heh heh
/petty rant
(It's just a pet peeve, not something I RAGEEEEEE about)
