Making a Furry RPG (G)
Apparently I've got 609 followers so I figured there's enough of an audience to post this for!
I'm planning on making a furry RPG using Unity 3D. I've got a basic idea for a battle system, but the primary goal of the project is to create something with a fairly large, flexible cast, which would encourage support from the furry community by allowing people to contribute through creation of characters and concepts.
As an elevator pitch, I would describe it as "A Suikoden game with a furry cast." So a large total cast of playable/interactible characters, with a core party that drives the plot. The game would focus on 'recruitment' and 'relationships' with characters that provide exposition, as well as bonuses in combat, strategy and other elements of the game.
Here's a top level description of the battle system I have in mind:
The player can select a total of 8 characters as the playable party at any one time. This places emphasis on the niche of having a large playable cast. Combat is command driven, NOT active, so think Final Fantasy X. You are able to see the order of actions in a queue, and different actions/status effects will shuffle the order of the queue.
The player has 4 'active' characters and 4 'support' characters. The active characters are those that appear on the main combat queue, and are you who give orders to when it is their turn. These characters can use their turn to swap in for another character.
The support characters can each have an Offensive & Defensive support ability. These abilities trigger periodically throughout the battle. When they activate is shown next to the main action queue. This queue remains based on the number of turns taken, and does not shuffle, meaning that the player can manipulate the action queue with specific commands in order to time certain actions with support abilities, whether to improve an attack or to ensure a defensive ability activates on an enemy's turn.
That's basically it so far. I'm going to start programming and get some screen mock ups. I just felt like I needed to put my idea down on paper, and to gauge interest.
So yeah, there we go
