It is I, Hatchetstein from DeviantART.
Born in 1996, I grew up with cartoons and comics, along with reading fine books. In the year, 2000, I first started drawing and along the way, a handful of artists inspired me, such as Van Gogh, Dali, and M. C. Escher. Around April 2004, I created my first cartoon characters inspired by Tom & Jerry, namely “Chappy & Mario”. Since then, I drew cartoons as I proceed in growing up. I also found myself pursuing in writing, including poetry. Years of drawing and writing, as I upload images online, a big break stepped into the picture.
When attending work at the Opportunity Center, I came across two people would later bring my childhood wish to life. On November 13th, 2018, I did illustrations for “Easy Microwave Eats” by Annie [author] and Stanley [computer expert/self-publisher], leading me to a bigger path. At the time, I was interested in producing my first book, “The Yuffledim & Other Verses” with Stanley. Unfortunately, COVID and the pandemic got in the way on March 2020. Time stood still and the Yuffledim was put to a halt. Then one day, on July 2021, Stan introduced me to Kindle Direct Publishing [KDP] from Amazon Books. After being informed that I could publish a book myself, I was excited to give a try, but around that time, I did some pictures based on “Senor Don Gato”. Since I already at it done, I decide to publish that one instead and test out KDP’s ability. On August 5th, 2021, “The Ballad of Senor Don Gato” was released and 53 copies were bought on its first month.
Since then, more titles were released, such as “That Syncopated Boogie-Boo” [October 2021], “The Yuffledim & Other Verses” [November 2021], and “Shockency’s THE TIME MACHINE” [June 2023]. With these opportunities at my door, I occasionally find myself stuck in what project I should work on first. I can create 3 ideas in less than 5 minutes and I would wonder which to choose. And who knows what might be my next big project!

I thought joining in other platforms would help me flourish. Yet I’m not getting anywhere recently.
I’m not as big on either of those platforms like I do on DeviantART, which that website had been riddled with spams, bots, AI slop, and assets nobody asked for after 2020. It’s very disappointing. Not to mention underwhelming as well...
Sometimes, I had this reoccurring thought of retiring…
