Many years ago a plane crash left me stranded in the Tibetan Himalayas. Fortunately, I was rescued by an enigmatic monastic sect and instructed in the mysterious 'Ways of the Vootie' by Funny Animal Perfect Masters
Ken Fletcher and Reed Waller.
Upon returning to civilization I dedicated myself to furthering the cause of Funny Animal liberation and other forms of cartoon enlightenment.

FA Does It Again (G)
Every time I start having positive views toward FurAffinity, the admins manage to make another bonehead decision effectively negating much of that empathy. Specifically, this nonsense about notifications older than 6 months getting "automatically pruned."
I don't want to dump on the FA admins. After all, managing this website is volunteer work and volunteering is perhaps the most thankless task in the world. But the fundamental problem with FA is, and always has been, that it was built on a rickety code base that has been patched dozens of times with bug-ridden code. But none of the reasons I've read justifying this new policy make any sense whatsoever. I was an Infrastructure Engineer for 10 years and if I gave my manager similar excuses I would have received my walking papers in short order.
Furthermore, I have notices on DeviantArt that are much older than any of the notices I had on FA before the Great Purge. Yet DA seems to be humming along quite nicely. And, yes, I've considered moving to DA but that site has its own issues. DA always seems to be in competition with FA as to which site provides the worst experience for artists.
I'll conclude by saying that I kept old notices for personal reasons -- sometimes deeply personal. And I won't justify that to anyone. And I was deeply disappointed seeing them suddenly gone with little warning or recourse. I don't plan on leaving this site any time soon, just as I don't plan on leaving DA or even Twitter -- this is for a variety of reasons. However, I'm likely to prioritize other platforms in the future. In fact, I already preview most the work I post here (and on DA) on BlueSky, Discord and Twitter, usually a day or two in advance. FYI.
