Questions for artists who use Discord to chat with people (G)
several minutes ago
How common is it for Discord users to get hacked? I ask this because some accounts belonging to people who commissioned me a long time ago have started becoming active again and have sent me things that were clearly scams—like links to a Discord server or images showing how to make money using MrBeast’s profile. Those are just the most recent examples.
This gives me two impressions. The first is that people who request commissions on Discord only use their accounts for that purpose and then forget about them once they’re no longer needed, to the point where they get hacked because they’re inactive. The second possibility is that they fell for a scam and lost their account because they weren’t paying close enough attention, and then waited a while before trying to scam or steal the accounts of users the original owners had chatted with.
I was just curious about how common this is and whether any artists, whether 3D or 2D, have experienced a similar situation. I also wanted to warn new artists about these kinds of things. Without further ado, I hope you have a good day, afternoon, or night.
